National Kitten Day. Look, Oliver! A day made for you!
National Pina Colada day
Collector Car Appreciation Day
National Clerihew Day. On July 10th of each year, National Clerihew Day in the United States celebrates a poem style created by Edmund Clerihew Bentley. His four-line biographical poem offers a brief, though whimsical approach to poetry.
An English novelist and humorist, Edmund Clerihew Bentley (July 10, 1875 – March 30, 1956), created the first-ever Clerihew at the age of 16.
Sir Humphry Davy

As with most poetry, the Clerihew is defined by a set of rules. It must:
Include four lines.Contain rhyming couplets of AA/BB.
Include a person’s name in the first line.
Say something about that person.
Be humorous. It is meant to be a funny poem, of course.
Chesney to the rescue in a good cause! Oliver, he rescued you once, now he has rescued you twice! Chesney please stick around to keep an eye on Oliver!
To JP Steve from yesterday’s comments " Do you think you can trust the Hummer to put the right labels on the right plants?"
I actually do worry about that and I give very specific instructions, like “These labels go only on the purple petunias right here. The yellow petunias have a different bar code.” And just to be safe, I leave a space between the bunch of plants I want him to put labels on and the other ones. “Mr. Hummer” isn’t stupid, but I don’t trust him to do things right if I’m not specific enough. As it turned out, he was at work yesterday, but the department manager gave him other work to do and by the time he finished that work, we got a big heavy rainfall. But I managed to label a few hundred plants before the rain came and when I saw the rain was coming, I printed out a whole bunch more labels to start putting on clearance plants on Friday. I think by the end of the day Friday (if it does not rain) I should get all the rest of the annual flowers marked down and I can start in on the perennials on Sunday. I’m the only one who does the markdowns but I wouldn’t trust Ann or the hummer to do it right anyway.
. . . Thanks for the site. I went there, though the print is too small for me to read. :’(
Mouse over the comic and you will see it tell you to tap on the comic to enlarge or to shrink it back down. If you need it bigger still there is the old standby … Ctrl and mouse wheel forward.
Annie is going to have to sit Oliver down and have a facts of life convo with him. Like not going off on his own. For once Chesney is a good boy. ( probably just this one time tho…)
I had a Siamese who never had to fight, because he was a grand master of phase one of that most ancient of martial arts – Cat Fu, only phase one. Phase one is Verbal Abuse. If he saw a threat a block away he would start talking a line of trash that involved ancestry, mutilation, humiliation and regret that every single cat (and a few dogs) decided it would be better to cross to the other side of the street when passing by.
Proud of our Orange boy. Ms LILY would be ULTRA impressed. All the wuppin’s she’s settled on our Ches in the past shows he can learn a thing or two. Looks like Lil Ollie is caught up in the fray (fluffy gray tail sighted). Call for Bandages . . STAT
My neighbor’s orange tabby has had unlimited “mooching” privileges since he ran off a cat that was attacking one of my kittens. The kittens have grown up and occasionally harass him but he’ll put up with a lot for a free mooch.
Chesney to the rescue! Eat your heart out, Rip Haywire! On another note, saw a rabbit and some robins while out walking today. I also saw two bumblebees outside.
This morning at 7:30, I had a message from my daughter to come to her house and pick up my grand dog, Murdoch, as she was taking Toto (my grand chicken) to the vet with a dislocated toe. I did, and because our vet (dog and cat vet…but willing to take in a chicken) is still doing curb side pickup….so Sarah had to leave Toto for treatment. She came back here and helped me with a bit of gardening until Dr. Lisa called her. Toto has bumble foot. So she is on antibiotics and NSAIDS. She picked her up at 11. She is in a huge dog kennel with a small cat kennel inside it for privacy in case she wants to lay an egg. I am on double duty tomorrow when Sarah goes to work….watching out for Toto and keeping the three cats in the house as it is too hot for them to be out. (they will run out under my feet if I am not very careful). I picked up a watermelon today, so Toto could have a nice treat tomorrow too.
