That’s true… machines are infuriating in the way that they calmly inform you that you’ve lost hours or days worth of work… or worse… then politely refuse to help. Or in the way that they calmly repeat the same error message over and over again. Or one of a hundred other things they do without a tint of real remorse.

But then, they calmly obey unreasonable requests repeated over and over again too. So, I suppose it’s not all bad.

You can’t blame technology for mis-information.

You are right Ladyfingers86. The rudeness sounds too human and not a machine. Ziggy, who do you have stuffed in your computer yelling at you like that?

@ Tigger I had a computer person (who is now deceased) tell me that a computer is only obsolete when it no longer does what it needs to do. And I firmly believe that with this addition: or cannot be upgraded at reasonable cost to do what you need it to do.) . My laptop is about 3 1/2 years old (Widows Vista) and it still does what I need it to do.

I still have a DOS system running - and doing what it’s supposed to be doing just fine. The newest systems I have are running W2KProSP4 - and also doing everything I ask just fine.

Obsolete is when not only has the original manufacturer stopped supporting the device, but when there’s no reasonable aftermarket support either.
