In college (60 years ago?) there was a guy, Lance Kerr. I think he was 12 or so. I think he became a lawyer. Smart guy.

Jason is still needing to learn how to socially interact with other kids in his age group.

Are you smarter than a fifth grader?

Roger’s nervous cause he knows this means Jason’ll be turning him over to the Thought Police by Wednesday.

If he’s really Sheldon level smart, he should be attending college before Peter and Paige.

Jason’s working on completing his Masters by lunch.

Proof our education system doesn’t work for everyone.

I had much the same problem in elementary school. Just no distance learning.

A really smart kid could probably complete college level work by the time s/he’s about 10-12 years old, and do well on it. The curriculum is designed to be a reasonable task for about 90% of the kids. The rest get special ed classes. So, the really bright kid spends roughly 90% of his time sitting in class bored to death. They become behavior problems and drop out at a much higher rate than the average kids. On line learning would solve this problem, because it could be easily individualized. The kid just learns at his own rate. Now, what you do with a kid who has completed PHD level learning but still has the maturity level of a third grader? That’s a whole ‘nother problem.

He was Sheldon before there was a Sheldon….

I thought that the teacher would be contacting M.I.T. not Cal Tech to see if they could use a new head to their Math Department……

If a child/student is indeed very smart/talented, doesn’t it make sense to let him learn at his own rate instead of keeping him held back to the 5th grade curriculum?

I always wondered how Jason could be so intelligent and still be in grade school… so yeah, this seems about right. :D Man, I LOVE Foxtrot!! I miss the dailies so much!!! Bring it back, Bill!!

I had a Dr. Starr for calculus. He was blind but wrote and graphed on the chalkboard. We had to tell him if he was about to write over the top of something.

Oh boy….another liberal fascist.

This happens when you don’t hold kids back to the lowest denominator.

Cal Tech…now he can hack/change the score of the MIT-Cal Tech football game.

The online thing addresses the problem of a much younger person trying to socialize and interact with his academic peers.

My grandson’s first few days of distance learning in 6th grade were a nightmare because the school district totally mishandled the connectivity. Public education and the government. Yeah, they’re always right.

Of course he did that.

But this is a comic in which Status Quo Is God, so he’ll be back in fifth grade for no given reason tomorrow.

The sad part is that many, many kids are this smart, but being held back academically because they don’t have the maturation to let folks know they are ready for more.

Except for the Maturity thing, Jason should be at much greater grade level.

This the only way he could do this kind of work. He’d be sent back to grade school if in person due to his personality.

So what’s Jason’s thesis on?
