This may be the most gorgeous Sunday strip we’ve had in a long time! A sheer pleasure to look at – not that we’re keeping score, but definitely a real winner!
I wonder if the real Goldie sits with crossed or folded paws. My little gentleman Brutus Ben-Mittens ALWAYS sits fancy, and it’s almost always right-over-left.♥
Puck’s annual leaf dance, er, fight, is always so graceful. Our trees are just beginning to turn but it looks like we might have good color this year. It doesn’t make up for the myriad disasters of this year but it does help the spirit.
Giblet had his vet appointment and they tweaked his insulin some more. He is now at 5-Units, twice per day. The vet did not seem too concerned about it, but conceded it could be Diabetic neuropathy. We are to bring him back in two weeks to be checked again. Apparently they can treat the pain symptoms of the illness in humans but not cure it. I am not sure what they can do for cats.
It is all very frustrating because his back-legs are not working the way they should and he knows it.
On a completely different subject: I heard Ruth Bader Ginsburg speak one time. She was this little slip of a woman but with a brilliant mind and compassion for all. It is a loss for the Country when we lose one of the best of us. “And though she be but little, she is fierce.” – A Mid Summer Night’s Dream – Act 3, Scene 2. Rest in peace dear lady.
Pucky is a great dancer/fighter. I’m glad he is keeping the world safe from falling leaves once again. Think it rather sweet he and Goldie seem to have a great friendship.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: I am happy to announce that Puckmosis will do his annual Welcome to Autumn dance.
Puckmosis: I would like to point out that the Welcome to Autumn dance originated as a fight to combat the plague of leaves that fell during the autumn months. That is why the season is also called Fall.
Elvis-Anum: The Royal Musicians will also perform an original song to celebrate autumn.
Beatrixia: The days are getting shorter one by one,
Tabith-Isis: The leaves are turning to the color of the dots!
Sophititi: The landscape is a work of art, and that’s saying a lot!
All Together: Welcome to fall, season of cool nights and shorter days!
The leaves are turning bright colors,
Lovely in so many ways!
They may be falling on the ground, but still all in all
We love the season of fall!
Lupinium: And now I will conclude the celebration with the traditional Thwump!
National Punch Day —There are certainly people I’d like to punch, or rather, use “percussive maintenance” on their heads in the hope of stirring their supposed minds into something vaguely akin to intelligent thought. Most of these are elected officials …
Then there are those who have had too much punch. Again, mostly elected officials—who frequently appear punch drunk, for all the sense they make.
On a happier note, I can just see Lupin diving into the punch bowl for a reason known only to him. After all, he did it with pumpkin …
National Pepperoni Pizza Day —"Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Eat pizza like someone may try to take it from you at any moment." — _Sandra Boynton– Good advice, IMHO. On that note, I know a pizzaria that puts a layer of pepperoni sausage under the sauce on every pizza except the bare cheese ones, where they ask if you want it. Best pizza in the country. Unfortunately, they are a four to five hour drive away. If you live near Iowa City, Iowa, look up “Pagliai’s Pizza”—you won’t regret it.
National Fried Rice Day —The second best use for leftovers. All you need is rice and/or leftovers. A dish anyone can make, even those who can’t boil water without burning it, assuming they already have leftover rice. Add enough leftovers and suddenly you have chop suey. What is the first best use of leftovers? Egg rolls, of course, but they’re harder to make.
Gaius tincidunt velit. Got it?
I am both deeply sad and heartily glad that this is the Sunday to follow so soon after RBG’s passing. I never could have guessed the timing, but it expresses the sadness and hope in my heart pretty well right now.
I cracked. I have ordered a print of this comic. The 4th drawing of Puck (front legs splayed out, head cocked to look up at the leaf) is just such a perfect depiction of a cat pose that I couldn’t resist.

Every cat is kung fu fighting
And they are fast as lightning
Although the future is a little bit frightening (Little bit frightening)
It’s the comic of your life that you’re writing (Life that you’re writing)
Oh ho ho hooooo…
You’re a diamond in the puff,
A brilliant ball of yarn.
You are a work of art,
Fighting a matter of concern.
Now this puts a cat to flight
When you got eevil leaves to catch,
Not only do you have to fight,
But you have got to win.
Every cat is kung fu fighting
And they are fast as lightning …

A month of nights, a year of days
Septembers drifting into Mays
Puck perfects his form as the leaves come in
And he just casts our fate to the wind
He shifts his course along the breeze
Won’t let us be smothered by autumn leaves
Graceful Pucky is our best friend
As he just casts our fate to the wind
I often wonder how things might have been
Had brave Pucky not cast our fate to the wind
