Personally, I find the whole ‘c.g.i. virtual crowd ’ idea rather creepy. The players don’t see it hear people. They know they’re still playing in an empty stadium. It’s only for the ‘benefit’ of the viewing audience. Plus it shows how we can be ’technologically replaced ’
It’s true for all entertainment. Why is there music in movies? We are so conditioned, that when I actually saw a plane crash (at an airshow) it didn’t seem real. Without the musical build-up and the enhanced sound effects, it was hard for me to register the seriousness of what I just saw.
I come from a huge football loving family where all major holidays involved sitting around watching The Game during supper. Husband’s family is the same, but worse for him because he was forced to play sports he hated… I must not have inherited the sports gene because my husband and I have never watched an organized sport in our 13 years of marriage… and we sure don’t miss them at all!We prefer real “sporting.” Hiking, canoeing, fishing, Star-gazing, etc. Y’all can keep your over-priced, diva players. (Honestly their salaries should be greatly reduced and pay the REAL working people better wages. Nurses, teachers, care-givers, animal shelter employees, etc.)Off soapbox!
I’d prefer if the sports teams would play sports and leave the preaching alone. If someone wants to speak their mind about a topic on their own time, go for it! As an American it is your right to try and convince us of your ideas. But not too many people turn on a ball game to be preached at.
I like WWE’s attempt to put fans back in the crowd. WWE’s Thunderdome let fans appear digitally via an elaborate setup of screens distributed around the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla. Just miss what was called “Midget Wrestling (Little People Wrestlers.)” Nothing like one of them biting the referee in the butt! {I know back to Arlo & Janis Jail!}
What sports???? Seems one group of idiots has made idiots of all owners of PROFESSIONAL teams. No sports tonight folks, or maybe tomorrow night either.

I would like the option to turn down the “loud fan” sounding canned crowd and hear better the commentators and the players.

Maybe it’s time to do away with traditional sports. Why not jousting instead?

I’m learning that there are more people (like me) who don’t care or watch professional sports than do.
