And don’t forget, Chesney, the time the gull grabbed that shrimp right out of your paws! Or that other time when a gull made a “deposit” on your head (think of what they do to cars in parking lots – THAT kind of deposit). We didn’t see those things here, but just because Graham didn’t draw them is no reason to say they never happened. Gulls do things like that all the time. Pick on our sweet Annie, will you? Well, here’s payback for you!
National Kiss and Make Up Day. Making up is good, but with this virus, kissing is a no-no.
National Banana Split Day. I like bananas and I LOVE ice cream, but I just don’t like the 2 together. I just don’t care for banana splits.
National Park Service Founders Day
National Secondhand Wardrobe Day. I used to buy quite a few of my clothes secondhand. Not quite so much now, but everything I buy new, I wear for so many years, they all look secondhand.
I asked Robert, who works in assembly in our store about my bike – wondering why it pedals easily enough when I put it upside down and turn the pedals with my hand but it pedals hard when I ride it – especially if I go uphill. Even a very slight uphill grade has me huffing and puffing in no time. He asked all the questions about gears and hand brakes (my bike has neither – no gears and it has pedal brakes, not hand brakes). Without seeing my bike, he said maybe the chain is too tight. Well, whatever the problem is, he told me to bring it in and he’ll look at it. After all, I bought the bike there at Walmart, so why not let him work on it for me? He knows a lot about bikes. He sure builds a lot of them every day!. And managers can’t argue about him working on my bike on Walmart’s time because just recently, one of the managers brought his bike in for Robert to fix. So, if I remember, I’m going to take my bike to work on Wednesday and see if Robert can make it pedal more easily. I half jokingly told Robert, “Gee, maybe I should bring in my old 3-speed for you to fix.” I bought the 3-speed with my high school graduation money in 1976 and I have problems with the gears slipping. He said, “Bring it in!” So I will, after he looks at my newer one speed. I actually like my 3-speed better, despite the fact it’s starting to rust a little. It has skinny tires and I like the handlebars on it better than on my newer bike. I’m sure Robert can get the 3-speed back in shape again. And best of all, I get the repairs all done FREE! Yes, there are some advantages of working at Walmart!
So far, I have gotten one estimate for my roof work. It was a lot less than I was expecting (and dreading), so I asked them if they could do another estimate on the third section of my roof. If I could do 3 sections for the money I expected to pay for 2 sections, I’d be over the moon with gladness. Meanwhile, I still did not get an estimate from the first guy who looked at my roof. I called them again on Monday in case the email didn’t go through. I haven’t heard anything from them yet. But when (and if?) I do, if that estimate is anything like the first estimate, I’ll ask them too about doing the third section of roof. A third roofer is coming at around 11:00 in the morning (today) and I will ask him too for 2 estimates – one for just the first 2 sections I need to do and one that includes the third section. The fourth section, the one over the downstairs bedroom has some serious issues which I think would be too costly to do this year. After all, I don’t want to wipe out all of the money I have in the bank. I have to save some in case something else bad happens, like having the transmission go out on my car or some other major catastrophe. But I’m a little more hopeful now that I can get up to 3 sections of roof done this year.
Looks like Annie is having second thoughts. I remember having to be REALLY good before I was ever taken to the beach. BTW, next time we get that dreaded gray out covering the strip, maybe clicking on Buy A Print will work.
I didn’t experience the GRAY OUT, but The Wizard of ID Classics came in scrunched together …. the top panels collided with those beneath. Will check later as Wiz is at the end of my comics.
Don’t mention sand fleas….I briefly sat on the ground at the races on the beach in Laytown, Ireland a few years ago and the next day my ankles itched like you wouldn’t believe.
Hey, nobody’s perfect! To be fair, Chesney has done even dumber things. (Like drive a tractor down a busy road, or trying to fly with paper wings.) Glad I’m able to see today’s comic. On another note, saw a squirrel, a rabbit, a vole, and a dragonfly while out walking today. I also saw a wren outside.
