No Jon, Frankie Yankovic was the one and only original “Polka King” (for USA … for Canada it was Walter Ostanek). Yankovic and Ostanek are both listed in the Cleveland Polka Hall of Fame (along with one of my uncles).
There was a girl in my graduating class who was a huge “jock”. Everyone knew her for her sports prowess. However, it was a huge surprise to all of us when she was also announced as valedictorian.

Yeah but the difference is Lance can make the crowds cheer.

Alfred Yankovic was valedictorian when he was in high school; he’s still pretty much polka king when it comes to his earlier parodies.

Yup Jon, one is forced to concede that you are, indeed, a tad bit dotty.

And I thought Jon would be part of the crowd I hung out with -
“Least likely to be allotted in the year book”.

Be careful with that lance, you could polka your eye out.
TwilightFaze about 4 years ago
Yeah, but nobody cares after you graduate.

Good for you John. Everyone likes a good polka. My second favorite is a sultry tango.

Was there a Polka Queen, Jon?

Do I detect some sarcasm, Garfield?

I don’t get people who live their entire life “stuck” in high school.

Don’t worry about it — Lance peaked in high school and it’s been all down hill after that. While you… well, I’m sure you’ll peak someday, Jon.

Lance Wellington, now doing 5 to 10 for insider trading.

But does Lance have a great pet?

But does Lance have a comic strip?

Um….What’s a “Polka-King”
CaveCat87 about 4 years ago
Jon, even if you were the polka king, nobody cheered for you.

Is this another one of Jon’s “yearbook” phases?
BJ40 about 4 years ago
Did Jon make the class leave the room when he started playing his accordian ?
Number Three about 4 years ago
If it has the word “King” in then that’s impressive!
Haha. I’m not one to rain on anybody’s parade.

Sure, but is Lance’s wife or girlfriend as pretty or as smart as Liz?
cuzinron47 about 4 years ago
That explains your undying popularity.

Lance Wellington must be the long-lost cousin of Beef Wellington if I were guessing. #wellpuns #heyoh [rimshot] :)

Wrong, John. Everyone knows that the one, true Polka King is Gus Polinski, who was brilliantly portrayed by John Candy in Home Alone.

I was the class idol or was that idle?

The polka king… not exactly a high position

If Jon is supposed to be about 30, I’m not sure he’d have a physical yearbook at this point.
