This strip originally ran in 1970 when the alarmists predicted all sorts of dire consequences were imminent due to the population explosion. This included a sharp reduction in population due to mass starvation – the planet couldn’t feed everyone. There was a popular book called The Population Bomb that scared the crap out of lots of people along with other “experts” piling on. They were wrong, as alarmists always are. Yet people still listen to them. We never learn, apparently.
