Long live Queen Blossom. After a glorious reign of fourteen years she has ascended to Rainbow Bridge where she will reunite with her big brothers King Larry and King Bagheera. Long live the Queen.
Such a pretty blue out the window in panel 3! (I know I mention blues often. I like things that are blue.) At least we know it’s not snowing…that would be too traumatic for poor Beatrix!
Elvis, stop panicking. Sit down in front of The Woman. Make sure her attention is on your eyes. Then project the information about Beatrix straight into her feeble human brain.
I think something has to happen soon, maybe Elvis gets out of the house again like when he found the flyer that got Tommy rescued or perhaps someone like The Man hears Beatrix if he goes outside to investigate the return of the owl!.
OMC! I can legit feel Pucky’s anxiety! I hate when Pucky looks sad/scared/anxious. It makes me want to reach through the screen and rub his little ears and tell him everything will be okay.
The first frame is so good that I’m just itching to assist the Woman. Elvis is too big to be securely held in one arm; I fear she is about to get scratched or kicked with those little hind feet. And the cleverness of Elvis’s speech bubble’s words going behind the picture clearly conveys that his hollering is in the (literal) background while the Woman tries to talk to humans.
Shout-out to all our Orb Buddies on the Gulf Coast. Prayers going up for your safety and well-being, and that of all your households. Please check in when you can.
One of my cats (the one pictured next to my post) ran up a redwood tree and got thirty feet off the ground before noticing he could not see the ground from the lowest branch, because it was hidden by bushes. I was walking away with the other cat when I heard him meowing (something he rarely did). Fortunately, I was able to find a cut sapling about 15-feet long. I braced it against the other side of the tree. I was able to talk him around to that side, where he immediately grasped the idea and ran down the sapling. He was a smart fully adult cat; usually kittens are the ones who get stuck.
IT Professionals Day —Message from CoComics to all IT professionals: “Send help!”
International Dot Day —Dot’s all I have to say about it •••
Make a Hat Day and National Felt Hat Day —I’d have to be mad to make a hat, especially a felt hat. Besides, I don’t need a hat. I haz a hat: my cat. Never comes off in the wind …
And now, for the foodies …
Butterscotch Cinnamon Pie Day —A pie and a day inspired by a video game. From the description of the game, at least the pie was good. YMMV
National Creme de Menthe Day —Cats are fascinated by the smell. I wonder if anyone has ever made Creme de Catnip.
National Cheese Toast Day —Even better than crackers and cheese, and a rare fine breakfast on a cold day. Waffle, 8-ball, and MrrrCavity agree.
National Linguine Day —It has been said that the Chinese make one shape of noodle out of anything, and the Italians make hundreds of shapes out of one thing. This is one of the latter, and means “little tongue.” Think of that next time you eat linguine …
National Double Cheeseburger Day —I can haz cheezeborger? The largest hamburger ever made was over 8,000 pounds, cooked for a burger festival in Wisconsin—I assume with cheese. Side note: in 1981, the USDA announced that ketchup could be counted as a vegetable in the school lunch program. And we wonder why we have a problem with childhood obesity.
That’s enough (and a great plenty). I must go and stifle a dormouse.
I’m confused by Elbiff’s shrieky comment. What would the humans see if they looked out the window? All the cats are locked inside, and Bea is somewhat far away, is she not?
O.T. The good news is: My Baba Mouse Peeptoad mug arrived today and I can’t wait to drink my chamomile tea out of it tonight!! The bad news is: I saw a solid black wooly worm today and that does not bode well for the coming winter…
And To Bill Jackson and all others in the path of Hurricane Sally, I hope you all have evacuated with your families and furbabies and will get safely through the storm, please let us know how you are as soon as you can after it passes.

Love is but a song we sing
Don’t want cat-child to cry
CAT can make mountains ring
And make angels sigh
Two birdies on the wing
Pray you’ll find out why
Come on People now
Talk to one another
Everybody get together
Try to see what has us bothered
Right now
If you hear the song I sing
You will understand (listen!)
You hold the key to un-tree Bea
Across this troubled land
Just follow us so you can see
You’re here at our command
Come on People now
Open your minds
Everybody get together
Try to seek and you shall find
Right now
Right now
Right. Now.

As performed by Whitney Houston: One Moment in Time
Once I looked up
What did I see?
My best friend Bea
Caught in a tree
I’m only one
But not alone
I’ll add my voice
To make it known
…….
We bark and mew
At the window pane
To tell our humans
But to no gain
We won’t give up
Until they know
What they must do!
…….
I want one moment in time
When I make my voice heard to be
When all of our barks and meows are heard
And the humans go to rescue Bea!
Give me one moment in time
When I do my part to rescue Bea!
Then in that one moment of time
I will feel
I helped a friend
Out of a tree!
