Ivan appears to have learned a hard lesson. So….where’s Clover?

Wow! Both Pilot and Ivan have changed a lot! (And I don’t mean how they look!) Pilot didn’t particularly like any of his siblings and now he’s smiling at both of them. And Ivan . . . well, he seems to have mellowed to say the least.

Oh yes, and the thus far obligatory, “Where’s Clover?”

I’ve been wondering about Ivan’s eyes since the teaser from August. At one point I wondered if maybe his eyes were ok, but uncovered they might cause some sort of damage. Another time I wondered if Winnie gouged them out after Ivan called him “imaginary” one too many times. Looking at the closeup today, though, it certainly looks like at least one was gouged out by something much smaller than Winnie. Now I wonder if it’s just the one eye.

I also wonder if his apparent attitude adjustment came from within or if Olwen beat it into him.

Friday can’t come soon enough.

Pilot has aged but Salem hasn’t, so why is he saying he assumes she’s Salem. Is it because he can’t see her clearly without his glasses?

Is it just me, or does Pilot kinda resemble ‘The Man’ from BCN (before he cut his hair), in Panel 1?

I love this strip so much. As much as I love BCN, I think I love this one even more.

Wow! My heart is in my throat over the changes wrought by five years of suffering in the Fire Realms. I expect I’ll be blubbering when the details come out.

Looks like Ivan paid a heavy price for his arrogance. And Pilot came into his own. Going to be interesting to see how their parents react to them being five years older now. And I guess Pilot will no longer have to tolerate Offal’s abuse. He could clearly kick his butt now. Now we await the story of their adventures and updates on Clover, Wigglesworth and Vesper.

Darn y’all for mentioning the August 7 teaser! I just looked at it and at the bottom are two skulls entwined with ivy— skulls that appear to be an icewalker and human!

wow.. I was today years old when I realized that Georgia Dunn does this strip as well as Breaking Cat News.. Yeesh, I’m a bit dense at times, but love both strips!

Looks like Ivan saw himself for what he is and hasn’t recovered.

Hmmm, scratch marks under the cloth bandaging his face. Very interesting story there, I’m sure. Wonder if Ivan is finally regretting not listening to Salem when she tried telling him what an idiot he was for opening an invasion portal.

And I love the refernce to how little time Pilot spent around his younger siblings. Both Pilot and Ivan are blind in their own ways (well, I assume Pilot can see without his glasses but everything is rather blurry). But Ivan hears Salem’s voice and he recognizes her voice while Pilot hears her and assumes it her. He spent more time with his rats than he did his siblings.

Of course they didn’t particularly go out of their way to hang out with him either. Vesper’s about the only one who really seemed to have much to do with him and I doubt he believes she’s back. After Vesper, really seemed Salem was the only one to have anything to do with him, which was very little at that, before going through the portal. Clover maybe had a bit to do with him after they went through the portal, but we still don’t know what happened. We just learned a little, like Pilot lost his glasses years ago (minutes to Salem and Peter), he did a lot of walking, hunting, and fighting. Aside from their rescueing Ivan, that’s the most we know of what went on in the portal for the rescue party.

1) Love that Peter saved the “gasp” for Pilot’s lack of eyeglasses, and 2) helluva price, Ivan…helluva price

So – Ivan is showing that he might be not quite as much of an “chocolate starfish” as he was. Olwen most likely lectured him up one side and down the other, and he’s had 5 years to think about what he did, and why.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Olwen also spent some of that time teaching him the responsible use of magic.

I’m wondering if the large-eyed creature might not be Clover (as some think), but rather, his familiar.

I’ve SO lost the track of anything going on in this strip. Travelers, Nazis (I think?), cute animals, supernatural beings…. Can someone give me the Cliff Note’s version of our story so far?
