If Garfield is supposed to be fat, then he should actually be drawn fat. Looking at the above strip, I’m not seeing a fat cat at all. Garfield’s body is smaller than his head and a good deal smaller than his feet. Garfield was conspicuously obese in 1978, but certainly not now.
