I was very much like Clvin in school, yet I have survived for 74 years. I did take the time to learn ab out what I WANTED to learn about, though. Other than that, I learned everything I needed to know about in Kindergarten. (Didn’t someone write a book about that?)
Perhaps the person who picks the “Featured Comment” could anticipate which would provoke a political interpretation or argument … and pick something else… I could see this coming …
Reading Calvin and Hobbes is like listening to Trump. So unfair to me. I know more than my generals. I trust my gut. The experts are liars. And on and on…
A real problem with experiential learning is that it takes about the same amount of time for everyone to get the knowledge. So the growth in knowledge ends up being really slow. Learning from materials – like books – is way faster. It took Einstein decades to develop the theory of relativity in its fullness, I learned it in a couple of quarters in physics.
Trump runs on emotions as does his supporters. Emotions will always overcome logic and reason. Until they learn the hard way, facts and figures are totally wasted on them.

Hopefully, the tv show is a Coyote-Road Runner episode.

TIL pulling out a book is more effort than planning a vacation.

If this wasn’t 30 years ago, Calvin could probably have found a desert diorama for sale on eBay.

Calvin knows what space looks like, but not a desert. Wow.

Being ignorant frees you from worries. If you are irresponsible enough.

He could dump a bunch of sand in the box, but if he accidentally drops the box, his mom will yell at him for making a mess.

He loves playing the victim, always blaming the world, society, parents, teachers, etc!!

If Calvin wants to see a desert, he just needs to look at the dust on his math books.

Ignorance has a great PR team that promotes it as bliss.

The closest I’ve been to a desert is Sleeping Bear Dunes (in MI, I think).

If ignorance is bliss. Why is Calvin not content?

That’s a bumper sticker right there, Hobbes!

Calvin is blaming both Mom and Dad for his vacations but Mom hates Dad’s vacations as much as Calvin does.

Time for Calvin to imagine something so he can avoid doing the work.

Easy stuff this — some sand from the sandbox, green plastic army man - done! Extra credit for a cactus frond so long as Mom doesn’t notice. ;)

There are people who find bliss in ignorance but the rest of us find them rather disturbing, although it is often hard to tell one from the other.

20 minutes? Plenty of time… 3 minutes to do the diorama, 17 minutes for the glue to dry.
