What’s the point of a couchful of cats if you don’t share the said couch?

Being cats, they’ll lose interest and lie elsewhere within a day or so.

We only have one cat. She leaves (sometimes with a parting slash) when its “my turn to sit here”. Though it took actually sitting on her a few times to get the point across that “big” beats “godlike perfection” in a few instances.

You might as well just drag the chair outside and set it on fire. You will never get that smell out of it.

Never mind the chair—we work to make the house payment so our 3 can rule over their kingdom. We understand our role in their realm…

Lucy and Danae? I have not seen them in this strip for a while now. They are the real reason I follow this strip. Where are they?

An earlier commenter gave the best description I ever heard. dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

Or to put it in modern perspective: half of the human population in that house is enabling indolence, indifference, and arrogance, while the other half stands in shock. [Take today’s results for example]

Nightly, my last challenge for the day is moving a 70 lb. standard poodle out of my spot on the bed without waking up my wife.

and two of them are orange and fat and shoring up the adage what’s yours is mine in territorial terms and in the franchise. We be in deep do-do and that is not in reference to the litter box.

When you own the most comfortable seat in the house you rarely get to sit in it without a fight.

I would add 2 more cats to the ottoman. That would be an accurate depiction of my den.

Cats can send out powerful “do not disturb” waves. Also, always make some kind of sound before touching a sleeping cat. I forgot that rule while bending over a sleeping cat. When I touched him, he jumped straight up with enough force to give me a nose bleed.

If you want the best seat in the house, you will need to move the pets.

My daughter’s cat likes to come and sleep with me until my daughter goes to bed. The cat will sit somewhat impatiently for me to lie down (I sleep on my side) and then she comes up onto my side (my arm is moved to the side so she had a wider, softer place to settle on) and falls asleep for 30 mins. to 1 hr. It’s kind of nice when she does it. Fortunately, she is a small cat (3.2 kg – about 7 lbs). Good thing it is not my mom’s cat – he weighs about 15-17 lbs. Oof. Trying to imagine him laying on me like that makes my sides ache.

As a puppy who was determined to lye on the couch, my dog Carmy was persistent and jumped up every chance she got. I would pick her up and toss her off and give her a scolding. This went on for a long time. I knew I was successful when we went to my wife’s daughters house. Her dogs were allowed on all the furniture. My dog and their dogs Got into a ruckus in the living room Of their house. They were chasing each other and their dogs were jumping up and down on the furniture and my dog stayed off. I felt the feeling of a job well done.
