This comic strip is priceless! It mirrors real life in the most endearing way. There is so much reality and truth portrayed by the characters and that is why it is so funny! Thank you so much Mr. Crane for giving us Pickles!
Geezus, Earl, didja ever think about just giving her a hug. . .or asking if there’s anything you can do?. . .Oops, forgot. . .this is Pickles, not Rose is Rose. . .
A point to ponder; what would have been Opal’s reaction had Earl had agreeably remarked that she didn’t look too good either? (To me, it’s just a lose/lose situation.)
“You know what, Earl? I’ll always love YOU, too! Sure, you’re bald now and you’re always saying stupid ****, but as far as I’m concerned you’re an adorable moron!”
It’s partly Opal’s fault for using poor grammar. She means that she doesn’t feel well. If she didn’t feel good, that’s probably her conscience being honest with her. On the other hand, Earl never wears his hearing aid. Moreover, even if she had said, “I don’t look good,” he should have stopped at “fine.”

The best response, in my family, is to cuddle up and say ’You feel good to me!"
Doesn’t always work, but it’s always true.

With me, feeling bad and looking bad are usually a matched set.

Pickles is good but whoever (Jimmy Johnson) writes “Arlo and Janis” has a camera hid in our house.

Most married men never have the chance to leave the doghouse. We stay in the dog house, the dog stays in the real house.

I told my wife I didn’t feel good. She just laughed and told me to finish cleaning the room. I think she’s on to my ploy.

So why is she looking in the mirror when she says she doesn’t feel good. You just can’t figure a woman out.
