So the story is the dad made a deal with the devil to have lots of lobsters (that was in a previous comic) and then he was fishing and caught sterling and has to take care him as his side of the deal

Gasping and grinning … so in LOVE with this strip today. Sterling! He would have made great Big Foot bait before his scales fell off.

Well, that explains a lot about the feral one! :-))

In today’s installment of Secret Origins

An Untold Tale

…part of an ongoing and sometimes self-contradictory saga…

I suppose that’s better than getting him when he was a Blue-Light Special at K-Mart.

Wallace: “I wish I had gills. I’d use them to sneak up behind Sasquatch and take photos of him in the toilet.”

Seagull: “Can I eat it?!”

That explains a lot. Have they tried putting him back in the water? Wallace was mistaken for a frozen piece of wood but when brought in he thawed out. Now we have both stories of the boys beginnings. Sterling brought up in a lobster pot. Makes sense.

This is the third or fourth story about the origin of Sterling. All equally plausible.

His real parents are probably worried seasick about him!

Probably connected to the monolith in the desert.

Nice, but I still prefer the “return to sender gone awry” story. Still laugh out loud at that one.

So, this is—what—the fourth origin story we’ve gotten for Sterling? There are some superheroes that don’t even have that many origin stories! :P

Finally, logic finds its way into Will Henry’s head.

I was cracking up with the first panel alone!!

Ahhhh, that’s why he likes eating bugs – it is remnants of his fishy origins!

I’m reminded of Maine humorist and storyteller Tim Sample, who tells a terrific yarn about a lobsterman who uses his mother-in-law as bait.

Nice story.

The thing is, Dad’s not kidding.

He must have had a hand in this mutant though, as Sterling looks a lot like him!

This may be the most plausible origin story I’ve ever read.

Well, that explains a lot.

Obviously you didn’t raise him well!!!!

Actually, this wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

I think Sterling is a long-game Marvel-Wallace The Brave crossover in the works.

I thought Sterling was created at Build-a-baby, and the dad was too cheap to get the deluxe version of a child. Or is it just me? (I AM just a confused seagull)
