@fuzzbucket given the number of active volcanoes perhaps the sign is made out of pumice like the slabs BC keeps sending messages across the ocean on, in which case even a sharpened stick can be poked into it.
So ironic – I just drove past a sign that said “Scenic View 1/2 mile” and someone had fired several bullets into it. And I thought: Who does that? Now I know…frustrated hunters!
Years ago, while riding my dirt bike on a back country desert road, I came across an open range cattle sign next to the road. Right in the middle of the cow’s silhouette, where the heart and lungs would be, was a large caliber bullet hole. From the look of the bullet hole, it appeared to have been shot from some distance, probably with the aid of a scope because of the accuracy of its mark.

I’m surprised he hit the sign. He hasn’t hit anything all day ;-)

Not for the wildlife……

Nice shot, but what kind of arrowhead did he use to stick into that rock?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a deer warning sign that hasn’t been shot.

I didn’t know they had cow jumping over the Moon ahead signs back then. Come to think of it I don’t even know if we have those signs even today.

Well, I suppose there is some relief in the fact that he did, technically, shoot a deer.

I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes. I saw the sign.

Well at least he hit the sign. Not that I support defaceing signs, I’ve seen to many mangled by yayoo’s with a shotgun, and those things aren’t cheap.

bow is wood, arrow shaft is wood, sign post is wood, wooden sign, arrow point is flint; problem solved.

Yep, our Wisconsin deer crossing signs are all shot up. It’s a long revered symbiotic relationship with the DNR.

Not because of his aim!

There’s why the hunting was bad… he didn’t look for the right signs.
