    Yup. When Mum says you’re a good cook, you really are. My Mum once praised my housekeeping, but that added the caveat, “well, better than your sister”.

    Funny, it was the opposite with me. Mother always believed in and supported me when no one else did, so of course I didn’t value her opinion. Was excited when a tough professor granted me a B—he didn’t believe in A, unless something impressed him, which nothing did.
