Confession… yes, I have been hoping for my own personal Christmas Miracle. But I am not holding my breath.
BUT! I have heard of people who are working on other people’s Christmas Miracles! My niece’s spouse… has a few more tests to go before he is able to donate a kidney! I am not that brave! I am very proud of him and his courage to save another’s life!
Good times and news can be found. We just have to get there and cling to them. Right?
I remember Dusty Rhodes and his “Bionic elbow”. Guy was a staple of Championship Wrestling from Florida on WTOG every Saturday back in the ‘70s with the host Gordon Solie. My Dad took me to the Fort Westerly Armory a few times where they taped the show. Good memories from when I was a kid. I’m surprised that Georgia knows who Dusty Rhodes was all the way up in New England!
I remember Paladin quoting the Tsar to the effect that the good die young that they may not fall into sin, while the bad live on that they may come to repent.
It will get worse first … but eventually it will get better. Then we’ll be complaining about how the relatives stay over an extra week for holidays, the stores are too crowded, and “my aren’t there are lot of ugly people walking around”. Merry Christmas. It is what it is. :)
Bill of Rights Day: “Those who give up their rights to gain a certain amount of security deserve neither rights nor security.” — Benjamin Franklin. Too many people in the USA believe they have rights they do not, and do not know what rights they do have.
Cat Herder’s Day: I think this sums it up better than anything else: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_MaJDK3VNE Head ’em up! Move ’em out! Cat hair!
International Tea Day: Tea has been described as the most civilized, and civilizing beverage ever known. It has been called by a tea master, “The one taste of truth,” but this was BC: before coffee. Still, it seems difficult to be barbaric while drinking tea. Tea was discovered by two of the oldest civilizations on earth. The British Empire went to war with them, won, adopted tea and finally became civilized. The early Americans loved tea so much they attempted to make the entire sea a teapot, which attempt failed miserably and forced them to become coffee drinkers. This may explain the nation’s meteoric rise. Perhaps someday they will drink more tea and become civilized, as well.
National Cupcake Day: Either definition goes well with tea …
National Wear Your Pearls Day: It’s been a year of “straight up poop,” but as Nietzsche said, “What does not kill us makes us stronger.” That’s the idea behind this holiday. Humans are like pearls: We start as an irritation, but experience builds layers upon layers of strength—if we let it. We need not whine, we need not complain. All we have to do is shine.
For those who asked for an update, I’m doing well today! Had a talk with the doctor and we decided it was a combination of hypoglycemia (I didn’t eat dinner Friday evening), dehydration (meds) and taking my prescriptions (especially sleeping meds) on an empty stomach. Not sure why it took so long to work through my body, but we discussed not skipping meals and making sure I drink enough water. Also decided that if it happens again, I’ll need to go in for tests. Thank you for caring!
Some things in life are bad They can really make you mad Other things just make you swear and curse When you’re chewing on life’s gristle Don’t grumble, give a whistle And this’ll help things turn out for the best And Always look on the bright side of life
The Man and The Woman get props from me for knowing classic wrestlers like Dusty Rhodes and Scott Hall. I also like how The Woman instantly figured The Man was quoting a wrestler, even if she wasn’t 100% sure which one.

I used to like to behave, I never fooled around
But I decideded one day that I wouldn’t settle down
Now I’m enjoying running amuck, and go and shed my hair
You might think I’m crazy, but do it with such a flair
Because I can tell what’s going on

It’s good to be bad!
It’s good to be bad!
It’s good to be bad!
It’s good to be bad!

I an a cat in a business suit, I broadcast on TV
I run around most every day and enjoying what I eat
They tell me that it’s good for me, but I don’t even care
I know that it’s crazy
I can’t go anywhere,
And there is no denying that

It’s good to be bad!

When life is good again
We’ll be together then
Hugs & laughs with friends
When life is good again
More hopeful than we’ve been
It’ll be so different then
More joyful moments when
Life is good again
We’ve cried so many tears
We’ve had so many fears
There are no guarantees
But you know life goes on
This too shall pass away
Bring new and different days
We need to change our ways
Make more time for play
Let’s open up our hearts
And let the whole world in
Love helps ease some pain
When life is good again
And it’s gonna be good again
(Dolly Parton❤️ / Kent Wells – based on When Life Is Good Again)
