Whenever I see puck dressed in his climbing gear, I hear the yodeling song they played on The Price is Right. I assume they still play that pricing game. I haven’t watched the show in a long time.
Raven is on a constant quest for the highest point in the living room and will sometimes stand up on his hind legs and reach for the ceiling! I have to keep telling him that there’s no higher to go. But he can almost reach it, thanks to the wide array of flat-pack bookcases lining every available wall…
The cats can get to the top of most of them by various routes, and I had to put a plank over a gap that they could jump – but just barely , and a scary sight it was!
Well… my kitties are going to have extra pets. Mostly because my life has gone wonky again. I need to tell everyone “Goodbye”. I will try to come in here every once in a while. Give up-votes to all who give out love and laughter. So… give a scritch to all your kitties and other furry friends from me, Spider and Luna Tic.
Check in your area, there may be internet only companies, and with the internet you can get a phone and YouTubeTV is an excellent alternative to normal cable TV or satellite TV or Direct TV or Dish TV off tthe top of my head.
My living room wall has a trim molding around the top about a foot from the ceiling. Every kitten we’ve had has tried to jump up there thinking that there is a ledge. Cookie was so determined to get up there that I had to hold her up and show her there’s nothing there. She still sits on the back of the couch staring up longingly.
Our little black kit takes advantage of every climbing opportunity available. If Puck came to visit we offer further levels of climbing enjoyment….next level is top of cabinet over the fridge followed by a slanted leap to decorative beam. The beam, being decorative but not structural, bounces a bit under even an 11 lb cat making it even more exciting and has been known to unnerve visitors sitting in the living room below.
I remember one time our Pepper got on top of a cabinet in our bedroom and to this day I think he flew up there! He also got out once, and ended up being on the garage root! Jason and I had both been calling him, but the little stinker didn’t make a sound until he heard Poppy calling him! LOL! He ended up jumping into his arms.
I loved the relationship those two had. Pep would wander out in the early am to talk with Poppy and Poppy would talk right back :) I know he misses him as much as we do.. luckily his dog Tyke is always there now :) And Sultan will jump on the deep freezer for him to give him belly rubs. Not to mention Sheba likes to sit on the arm of his chair and try to steal his food! Yeah, we all know who the favourite hooman is ..
Two of our boys go even higher. We have something called POT SHELVES in the house. People put decorative things up there as well as fake plants. To me, they’re just dust catchers. Anyway, the one between the kitchen and living room is nearly 18 fee high. They start on the floor, jump to the counter, then to the fridge and finally up to the shelf. They just sit up there and survey their kingdom.
Does anyone else pick their cat up and carry them around to give them a different view sometimes? I mean, get down on the floor, it’s kind of boring down there ;)
Cats do go for altitude. When I walked with my cats in the redwoods, if there was a fallen log, they would walk on that rather than the ground. When Kirby saw three redwood logs, one above the other, bridging a river, he didn’t stop until he had climbed to the highest one.
It’s nothing but difficult to tell which local is actually best represented above in this hot case scenario? Could it be Local 58 Electricians, Firefighter Local 215 or IUPA Local 21? No bat rope required!
My cats need only one intermediate step to get to the top of a fridge, and sometimes not even that. And when they miss, I get the “I meant to do that” look.
" What’s UP, pussycat? Whoa……. According to Mike Ditka’s panthers, UP is the University of Pittsburgh. Actually, this whole scene looks like some rental property at Sealevel, NC where Norwegian cats are are out of Georgia and actually in German music appreciation class listening to ‘Cats on the Coast’
It seems I’m way pass Georgia on the cat hoarder scale, we seem to have new female member, #8 now, Miss D, living with us. Just proves that not all crazy cat people are women, my husband brought this one home (well, he’s brought home 6 of the other 7 too).
Good news is I got my BCN face masks with the gang on them, as well as Ms. Beatrix being her cute little self!
I’ve seen Bandit literally jump from the floor up to the top edge of the fridge (and we are talking a fridge like Puck’s on). He had to pull himself up the rest of the way, but it was an impressive sight to watch.
I had a busy day and didn’t get to look until now. What’s wrong with you people you didn’t notice the toe beans on the refrig drawing??? This is a red letter day for the diary, a new type of toe bean sighting!

On a Clear Day You Can See Forever
On the fridge top
Rise and look around you!
And you’ll see where
You are!
On the fridge top
How it will astound you!
That the living room and the kitchen
Are right in your view!
You’ll feel part of
Every room on the first floor!
You can see the big red couch
And where there’s kibble, treats, and more!
And on a clear day
On a clear day,
You can see where to nap and eat, and more!
