Of stage adult to boy" “It does if you pick up the right sock. Guess you’ll have to pick up each one to find the right one.” (Later, when room is all cleaned:). “Gasp! You were right!”
Actually the theory will work. If he picks up that sock, it reveals a space where the floor is not dirty. Irritable Belle sees it, realizes what he did and then screams at him to clean up the rest of the room.
I have a work colleague with strong psychopathic tendencies, he won’t take the risk of being responsible for anything in case they make him do the job that is his job title, so uses a quite impressive set of linguistic judo skills to never be responsible for anything.
Which in some middle management positions that are essentially useless (if you decide not to do them) you can get away with for years, just argue that the person / team before you in a process cycle should do/should have done a better job, and argue the team after in the process cycle ‘need to do their jobs’ and you can’t be responsible for their interpretation of what they were given.
Approaching 7 years and still I feel the only one who understands the consequences of this (I can actually do the job and have done so, but I’ve given up attempting to get him to do his, he just does the same moves with me…).
Operative word being can or, more precisely, there’s a 0.000000001% of it making a damn bit of difference. Still, the journey of a thousand miles beginning with single step… Or picking up a single sock in this case.
A messy room is not a complex system. It’s the exact opposite: a chaotic system. Changing one small thing in a chaotic system doesn’t bring striking change.
How does Pam discipline? She’s on her own on a death star of bad tech. Were it Brewster making the cleanup demand he’d already have the element of fun and snap the ♫,♫,

Nice to see familiar toys on the floor like Rockem Sockem Robots, and the “jack” in the box from Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Remember that Chaos Theory may explain the mess you’ve made, however it will not help you clean it up.

Drop the jargon and pick up the mess, lazy kid!

Organizing a chaos system can provide enough energy to create a new life form under the mess. Be careful when you get near the bottom.

And then moving that one sock changed the balance of the ship just enough to alter its course and cause a crash.

I need chaos theory on my bank account. The tiniest change in interest that brings exorbitant amounts of cash in a complex system

Chaos Theory only works in making things more messy. It will never bring order to a chaotic situation.

If you could manipulate it, it wouldn’t be chaos.
