Ah, so! THIS is why they needed the most popular characters in the comic book… the “chosen ones”. The “stars” of the strip would have the strongest link to the alternate reality.

Ravenscroft was protecting them in Eden, so this must have been HIS theory in the first place. And trying to prove it is what got HIM turned into an anthro.

This presentation raises the question :is there an end to this strip? Also, what is the Eye’s ‘position’ regarding the project’s objective? Or is it unthinkingly evil and simply against everyone vs having an objective itself?

Looking back at Ravenscroft, he told Wally that he could smell God on him. Now we know that Ravenscroft must have encountered the Eye while still at the Topsider facility. That’s supported by Amesworth mentioning “God” to Wally, and the reaction by her colleagues when “God” made an appearance in their lab — “Not again!”

Anyway, sounds like the big reveal is coming!

There are at least three plus fictional dimensions here:1) The Endtown Reality2) The Cardoodle Reality3) The comic book and cartoon reality2 and 3 are distinct, just as our reality is distinct from the reality where the Warner Brothers characters live. Then there are realities like the toothbrush dimension, and the various zero bombed lifeless worlds.

Lots to ponder here, and we still don’t have all the information from the Topsider yet. The “complete undoing of the reality interchange plague”… so not a virus but still called a plague. What would this “undoing” mean? A severing of the bridges between realities so that each universe would exist without interference/overlapping from others? A restoration of humanity to what it was before WWIII? Or would it halt any further transformations, leading to a (peaceful?) co-existing population of Topsiders and anthros?

The Topsiders have already said that humanity in its “pure” form is doomed to extinction, so this project is a last-gasp effort. Do the Topsiders think that if the reality links are severed, Wally & Co will snap back into their human forms? (Not taking into account mass and physics and whatnot.)

There’s still the wildcard “Eye” element to deal with, sowing chaos in the Topsider ranks.

But…why would they have to keep the “greatest purpose” a secret? Wouldn’t everyone want the “plague” to go away, so maybe the remaining populatuon could try to rebuild into a normal life? It’s been shown that some Topsiders know all this, but a lot more don’t even know the basic mechanism of change? Enforcement of totalitarian rule is a reason, but ruling over what? Waning resources, decaying population? Each answer raises more interesting questions. :-)

Ah yes, a comic will solve the whole problem. All you gotta do is write a text box on the last page saying “And everything went back to normal, everyone lived their normal lives, and realities all stayed on their sides of the fence. THE END”. You can substitute FIN for THE END if you want to make all realities French and/or Pretentious, but otherwise it should work just the same.

Uh, what was the first and most obvious objective of the Eden project? Isolate the anthros? Somebody remembers?

More Holly above, I see, though two dimensional and ink only.

Do we get a resolution to Holly, then, when the great “un-doing” occurs?

Walt and Portia for that matter?

What about Kirby? For crying out loud, what about Kirby?

Last we saw of her, Chic, and Irving, things did not look good.

And that’s before adding in the question, can the Marx(es) of this “world” be trusted?

And then – just before Amesworth’s “mutation” – the indication that Topsiders may have already rotted away inside their suits – does any of this matter any more?

Last, and certainly least: What the sam hill happened that drove Topsiders into mass murderers of so-called “mutants” – and why, all of a sudden, are we supposed to trust these guys?

While this arc DOES present a possible end to the strip, I doubt that a mind as creatively convoluted as Aaron’s would take such an easy way out. Rather I personally believe that he enjoys this strip too much (although I’m sure the work is draining) to end it for some time yet. I think he has something clever up the sleeves of his straight jacket…

There is one person who can draw an object then hand it to you. Aaron Marx…..back on the Opabinia Queen he drew Wally an assault rifle then handed it to him. So it is possible to make a reality a cartoon character filled environment. However it opens pathways, holes between the realities where one can flow into another corrupting it, changing it to a mixed reality. The author of this comic book world can do what Marx did…..it may even be Marx under a pseudonym…..like JJ Carter.

I sincerely doubt this plan’s effectiveness. Call it a hunch, but I don’t think they can unmix the cake batter…

The comic does not belong in the Endtown continuum. That’s why they need biosuit gloves and goggles to handle and read it there. So, where did it come from? In a reality that is an actual cartoon (Cardoodle land), what would a book be like? Would it be written text? Or a comic? Are the actions in that single issue of Cardoodles events that actually happened in their reality? Is JJ making up things, or just writing down what JJ saw? Or was he transcribing set-up events (as in Roger Rabbit)?

Why are there sentries at the door? The sign would show they’re outside. If to control the Cardoodles wouldn’t they be inside with them? So, to limit entry from outside? Who would try to get in? They’re all Topsiders.

Am I the only one who took a quick look at panel two and thought they’d discovered a comic book that had a Topsider in it?
