I remember, that was the day NASA announced that there is evidence that water once flowed on Mars.

Five and a half years is long enough for a repeat. It’s a good one, too.

It has come to my attention that poster Charlie Farmer has been surreptitiously banned from talking on these pages for what appears to be no apparent reason as he is not one to make the kind of talk worth being shut out for. I am mounting a write in campaign for his release from the Phantom Zone.

My letter to the company:

Good day, sir or madam. I hope winter isn’t too harsh to you as it has been here with minus zero temps but at least we have not had power outages.

I am writing you today concerning co poster, Charlie Farmer. He has informed me through emails that he has been blocked from the Comments groups at your institution. I am perplexed at this action as I have never known Charlie to make derogatory remarks to the other posters or to post off color material. He says he has sent two notes to you in the past two weeks or so but has not gotten a response. Regardless, it is my fervent hope that Mr. Farmer can be restored to the ranks of the living, to the groups he participates in before he whittles away to nothing from the deafening silence he is forced to endure as a result of having been banished to the Phantom Zone district of Gocomics. “Praise the company !” Thank you, Mr. Gordon Heavern.

Those of us who are old enough remember taking punch cards down to the computer center. And picking up the printout a few hours later.

I started with Fortran back in the early 70s. Drop your stack of cards before you loaded them and you have a job getting them back in order.

Wow! The computer area looks like Pearl Harbor after the Japanese attack.

That’s what my computer regularly looks like. I used to have great tech support at home, until my son moved out. Some crap about a great paying job in another state with a top Fortune 500 company. ;-)

This happens a LOT when I take a day off. How do they know I’m out?

I once found a great porno site that caused the same problem…

In the meantime, people learned to distinguish between “monitors” and “computers”.

Unplug it and see if the smoke disperses and the flames go out. If they do, plug it back in and see if it works. ; )

@RSHIVE, Ha! I still remember seeing a Gov’mint employee working with a contraption that as he did the keyboard work there was a paper tape coming out from the side and it was a perforated tape and not magnetic like later versions
