Happy Monday, Cappers….If there’s any such thing.

It came up on my Facebook memories today that I left my first job 3 years ago. Believe me, I wouldn’t have left if I had the choice. I was made redundant after only 15 months.

One more thing, Eldo… Am I still able to call you tomorrow or are you on that training course? If you’re still doing it… May I say how amazing I think you are. I’m so glad I know you and I hope I get to meet you one day. As well as Gweedo, RJM, A Common Tator, Whisplicka and Afficionado if I ever go to Malta.

The callousness of Flo’s P.1 remark sends a cold chill.

@Number Three Today’s strip IS funny , the Vicar dragged our Hero Mr Andrew Capp home for selfish reasons ,Andy’s discordant singing in the churchyard would make his parishioners think that there are ghosts wailing in agony :o) my avatar again is a photo of Rowan Atkinson as Mr Bean grinning from ear to ear because he’s in a good mood like I am , how was your day? our Manic Monday should be very busy as usual, I have already done our shopping on me own ,didn’t need to administer first aid to anyone and now can relax because the contractor won’t come today, Connie says Hi and if you ever come to Malta you are welcome to stay with us in Arthur’s ex room , keep safe and thanks for caring young Lady

I’m happy because the never ending full moons in Andy Capp strips were annoying.I did a lot of complaining about it and maybe my words did not fall on deaf ears!

Many of our actions can come across as ‘caring’ for others and it might well be but usually there is a component of doing something for yourself that is included.

May have been more difficult if Andy was singing Amazing Grace.

Today’s strip reminds me of a Christmas strip from Reg Smythe’s time.

Panel 1 The vicar is uncharacteristically entering a pub.

Panel 2 He tells us “Don’t worry, I’m getting something for Mrs Capp.”

Panel 3 The vicar is carrying a drunken, sleeping Andy over his shoulder and Flo is waiting at the door. “Oh Vicar, you shouldn’t have.”

I love the vicar’s face in the last panel. Often people think I do things out of the goodness of my heart but sometimes it’s purely for myself. I just don’t tell em’ that.

It’s lovely to know that I’d be welcome at yours and Connie’s house. What part of Malta do you live in? I can’t remember.

My day was spent drinking lots of water (I’ve given myself a very mild headache in the process because of it) as I make one of my lifesaving blood donations tomorrow and when I’m well hydrated like that, it really helps. I also ate some Cheerios for breakfast as they have iron in.

I would actually throw a bucket of all that water I drank over Andy’s head if he was “singing” in my back yard!

Our idioms are certainly strange. As was the case with Andy, we sing at the top of our voice, but thank people from the bottom of our hearts. Sometimes, we try to think of something off the top of our heads, something that’s been in the back of our minds, but can’t quite verbalize it, even though it’s right there on the tip of our tongues.
