It was a Supremely good idea.

Stoopid newspaper syndicates, indeed!!

Most people who were reading newspaper comics at the time didn’t want new comics replacing their old favorites

New AND different guaranteed rejection

There they are! But ewwww, Bill sweat on you? (He was my drum teacher at Burncoat High!)

And the legend is born! (am I the only one that read that No! as “ion”? wondering, why does Lennie have ion on a piece of paper in front of him…then the light bulb finally came on…. long night with the storms and the weather radio going off till 1:30 a.m…)

I love reading a gripping tale, especially when I know it will end well. Though the 9 of 12, made me realize that this is not the ever ending story I had hoped for. Thank goodness for dejá vue.

A comic about a man and his cat.

How could they not see it? I bet they were still burned because they were the ones who originally turned down “Garfield” and were still paying for it.

But you kept on and now you are so busy that you are leaving us. Good for you, sad for us.

And soon Ginger became a star…….oh, and that other guy, too.

And yet, he persisted.

Omi… I don’t think I’d heard Ginger’s story before. Lennie, you are a wonderful person! I’m glad you gave her such an amazing life, and I’m sure she adored you :)

Hey – since the Big Picture website is no longer around, can you post that picture of Ginger here? I think it will have to be in the strip. I only got to see it once. 8-(

Everybody loves Ginger. She’ll be remembered more than any other cat in any comic.

The cat was definitely a step in the right direction. And as for bald characters, Ziggy is very popular.

Rescue cats (and dogs) are the best!
