I would think that eating a garlic sandwich at the event when wearing a mask would be much harder. By the way, is it possible to smell garlic breath from somebody masked standing 6 feet away? Presumably you’re masked too.

I sneezed in my mask a couple of times. Assumedly, the mask did it’s job of keeping other people safe but I learned to carry two masks.

Dunno. I’ve developed a taste for garlic-cheese bread on my bowling days. The bread is a good source of carbohydrates. Nobody’s mentioned anything, though maybe they’re polite. But I do brush teeth after each meal, so maybe the toothpaste odor covers it up.

I like garlic, onions and limburger cheese. Often eat onions raw. Once years ago, when I was single that came up in a group I said: “Maybe I’d like a garlic, limburger and onion sandwich.” A very shy woman there immediately said “No wonder you live alone.” and then apologized profusely . Once I recovered from laughing, I told her that I enjoyed the line and it was no problem, apology unnecessary.

My Frozen Tundra county is a conservative stronghold, but houses my favorite restaurant. At breakfast the other day, no others coming in with masks, no one leaving with masks, and no servers with masks. So, I rubbed mine on the tabletop outer surface down and left it. A former acquaintance of that city said out of his family of 20, 9 got Covid. Yep, in his case revenge was served cold.

Surprisingly, perhaps, it’s almost impossible to smell your own bad breath. You’ve probably tried cupping your hand in front of your face, exhaling through your mouth and then sniffing for the odor that others find so offensive. The reason this doesn’t work is a phenomenon called acclimation. But then knowing this, probably takes the humor out of the comic.

Methods to eliminate/reduce garlic and/or onion breath:

Try eating fresh produce like apples, spinach, or chew on fresh mint leaves.

    Brush and floss.

    Use chlorine dioxide mouthwash.

Use homemade mouthwash with essential oils)1 drop) (peppermint. rosemary, myrrh, eucalyptol) and a carrier oil (1 teaspoon) (coconut, sweet almond, or olive).

Try tongue cleaners, such as tongue brushes and scrapers.

Drinking 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water, prior to eating garlic or onions, may help flush their byproducts through your system more quickly. It also aids digestion. You can drink a very diluted solution after your meal. Or swish it in your mouth for 10 or 15 seconds after eating as a mouth rinse.

Drink a hot cup of green tea after a meal to temporarily reduce odor until you can get to the bathroom to brush your teeth.

Chewing spearmint gum can temporarily neutralize garlic breath.

I kissed a girl once who had had some garlic before … After we separated to catch a breath, I asked her to do something about that before we continued … figured I was just being polite, by not interrupting the moment … ;)
