People have told me that. But I roll down my socks and show the even whiter skin underneath and that shuts them up.

I swapped two ankle socks for the summer last year, and it looked pretty funny LOL

Neighbor Earl had skinny legs, his feet were white as snow, and Sylvia his daughter said, “You need more sun you know” !

And those purple paisley prints on your legs!

Believe me, most older people’s feet look better covered up with socks.

If I don’t wear socks and crocs in the boat while fishing, the biting flies have a field day.

My white socks are pretty permanent from wearing socks and shorts while working outside.

ELI5 why socks with sandals is such a fashion abomination? Wear what you find comfortable, and to Pluto¹ with other people’s opinions.

I’m like Earl. If my skin were any more pale you could see my internal organs, like those blind cave fish. To get color, I need to use shoe polish. But I find the term “white guy” offensive; I prefer to identify as a “person of pallor”.

I think he would get out more, but taking his favorite couch outdoors requires a whole lot of work…

The best I can do in the sun is turn a dark pale. I grew up with black socks and sandals being goofy. Therefore, and it is white ankle socks and sandals for me. Thankfully, at my age, I really don’t care what people think about my attire. I’m just happy to have made another day.

If he got out in the sun more his legs would just be splotchy with freckles.

My own hubby never wear sandals, he wears white socks with walking shoes, his toes not meant to be seen in the open.

As the manager of a summer day camp, I always wore socks with my Birkenstocks. At the end of the summer, the kids “honoured” ( mocked me?) me by wearing socks with their sandals on the last day.

The less you see, the better I look!!

Thin socks keep the feet from sticking to the inside of the shoes and help absorb the sweat! Happy now that you know all the gruesome details?

People who choose clothes for appearance have a whole set of different priorities than people who choose clothes for function.

No one needs to see a mans foot-knuckles.

When we think of fashion, we should realize that most people just aren’t good looking enough to wear what they have on.

First, didn’t she notice his toes? Or does he have any? Second, if he’s around my age (with an adult child and at least grandchild I presume he is), he pretty much has to wear special socks all the time to control/prevent leg and ankle swelling.
