Yes Earl you are retired. But you still have a boss. And you better follow her orders.

I came down with sepsis over a year and a half ago. I was throwing up. The ambulance came and took me to the hospital. My wife said that after the ambulance left the dog threw up. Then the cat threw up. She nearly threw up herself by then.

But, Earl, isn’t Roscoe your dog? Aren’t you supposed to take care of him? Talking him for walks just isn’t enough.

I think I have more work now then when I worked. But now I’m my own boss and give myself time off early most days. I do have dreams where I am back in the military though at my present age, that is spooky.

The reason it takes old folks longer to do simple repairs around the house:

We think things through & plan our steps. For instance, I now only need 2-3 trips to hardware store instead of 3-4 back in the day.

When my husband retired from the Navy, after the big ceremony with all of the pomp and circumstance, I was talking to him and said that when he got home, it was his turn to clean the litter box. I was pretty sure the cats weren’t going to salute him.

I have those dreams now that I’m retired. It’s such a good feeling when I wake up and realize that I don’t have to work anymore.

Just retired a week and half ago. Had a second shift 10 hour work schedule for the last 3 months. When 3 o’clock rolls around, it’s a relief not to make a lunch and drive to the plant. Every time I look at the clock I figure out how much those other guys have to go before the shift is over.

Wait a while and he will eat it back up. A Clorox wipe will take care of the rest.

Been a looooong time since I dreamed I had to get dressed and go to work. About 1 month after I retired in October 1998. That was when my local boss, along with the higher level boss stopped by my house and offered me a consultants contract for 90 days to come back and train my replacements. I made more in 3 months than I usually made in 6 months.

In last night’s dream, I was packing for college again (I graduated five years ago, and yet I still get going-to-college dreams), and then I was checking a customer out at work, but the codes weren’t right, I couldn’t type, my coworkers weren’t helping… and the customer was super nasty about it. That part is probably from real life: Monday evening, when I really was struggling on the register because I was coming down with a cold. But thankfully real customers are usually nice where I work.

Since I’ve been retired for almost 5 years, I’ve NEVER had a dream about work. Besides, that’d be a nightmare anyway.
