when i go shopping with the wife it is our You Hoo all done at the check out . unless i forget it again . i do call My 90 yr old mom with the cell phone , unless i lost it again .
I have a smart phone but only use it to make real phone calls. I may be old fashioned, but my life is slower, and happier than those who spend their entire life glued to the screen on the phone. Why even bother to call it a “phone” anymore? That is the last thing most people use it for.
I used to have to take my phone with me and keep it on 24 hours a day 7 days a week, my dad was in assisted living and I was his POA medical, and I got those calls at any time day or night. It was a very necessary and helpful thing to have. And it was the only reason we got a cellphone plan.
He says to the semi-wild animal who doesn’t have to hunt for food any more, has a warm place to sleep free of predator danger, gets free health care, a clean place to crap, and soft, warm laps to sleep on. Make you wonder if man domesticated the cat, or if cat domesticated man.
Is Arlo suggesting he has been domesticated by Janis? He doesn’t have to search for drink or phone but is fed it, much like Luddie doesn’t have to hunt for his food and drink……
Whenever I start thinking that I am independent, resourceful and self-sufficient, it is then that Karma uses the better half to show me that I have been forgetful, neglectful, stupid or just spaced out.
At this point in a 50 year marriage I still have the debate in my head as to who in the best scenario should check out first considering a house that has to be closed out. If I am the survivor then I know it will not matter for long. This tidbit popped up in one of my health subscriptions:
“HEARTBREAK”: Studies show that deep emotional trauma, like the death of a loved one, really can break your heart. The chance of having a heart attack the day after the death of a significant other increases by 21%, and remains increased above 6% for the next week, probably due to stress hormones and their effect on the heart. When emotional trauma strikes, take extra care with yourself and rest, find emotional support, eat well, find an emotional release, and be aware that your heart really is vulnerable after emotional trauma.

What were you thinking, Arlo? How can Janis interrupt your solitude with trivial texts if you don’t have your phone with you?

Is Janice worried he’ll cheat on her while doing chores. Like he has a honey waiting in his toolbox. Not much of a control freak, is she?

In panel 2 he looks a little concerned that this might not go well.

The main reason I carry a phone is to listen to music. Sometimes, I leave it at home.

Luddie can still be wild and free, if he wants to… Arlo can’t. ッ

Both my boys call my wife when they want to talk to me because “he never has his phone”.
