Inscrutable, eh? Not to mention greedy and treacherous. When you actually read ERB’s stuff, it’s shocking how casually racist it all was. MLK and all those who worked to end segregation really did change the world for the better. Those changes have been so deep and pervasive that those who have grown up in this world are scarcely capable of grasping how different things used to be.
