Negotiate peace with them. One wannabe claims he could.

A problem of going up the river to do your looting, besides all extra fuel it takes to tow the laden barges, is that when you finally head back downriver to sell what you’ve stolen everyone knows who you are and the element of surprise is all with the guys hidden in the trees with guns.

When is this supposedly set? Slaving had been illegal for years long before this was written. (Slavery itself was still legal in a number of countries, but the slaves were descendants of slaves and not captives.) And in the later Tarzan novels the Waziri and some of the other native Africans had modern weapons. However, the novels often pictured an Africa that only existed in the imagination of Americans.

Tarzan wanted some down time and is now thinking he’ll have to kill a lion or two, maybe a croc, and a few people. No rest for the wicked.

Tarzan says, “Well, guess we are too late. Time to head inland and go see Jane for my once every three year visit.”.

That McNabb will do anything to avoid having to entertain visitors, contemplated the grumpy Tarzan.

The Iron Jaw clenched. The Steel Thews rippled. The knife was moved slowly out of and back into the scabbard. A thin smile broke. Tarzan was contemplating some very unsilent activity… ☺

Missed all of the action and the river boat-ride getaway. These evil men are on step ahead of Tarzan….for now. You’re gonna need more men.

Tarzan contemplated the ruins in ominous silence… while cursing that he sank all his retirement savings in McNabb Trading stock.
