Probably a good start. I’ve been shooting since I was 4, carefully, even as a Sgt. In Special Forces, Airborne. I do NOTthink thatany punk with a paycheck from McD’s should be allowed to walk out of a store carrying more firepower than the entire Continental Army possessed …..
“It’s not guns that kill people! It’s these little HARD things!” — The Flash (1990s version), who was brainwashed by The Trickster, just before he starts throwing bullets at supersonic speed
I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said “Guns save lives.” People, you can’t have it both ways. If you’re going to say “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people” then you have to say “Guns don’t save people, people save people.” If a gun is an inanimate object that can’t kill people on its own, then it certainly can’t save them.
It’s true, mostly. “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.” Guns, modern ones especially that were unimaginable to the Framers of the Constitution, just make it a whole heck of a lot easier for people to kill people. Lots and lots and lots of people. More guns = more safer, right?
Nah, death kills people. Ya can’t die from a bullet. You can die from cardiac arrest, or organ failure, or major hemorrhage. Li’l piece o’ metal ain’t the problem.
Maybe we should get closer to the root of the problem: Since it is a finger that “pulls the trigger” on a gun to propel the bullet (which may then kill someone): Maybe trigger fingers should be amputated from everyone (or maybe just gun owners?)
[And since a lot of people are killed when a knife blade penetrates their body, maybe we could amputate the hand that would wield a knife of anyone who possesses a sharp knife.]
In the late 70’s I was at the counter in a burger joint in Israel with a friend. A young woman reservist came in and set her assault rifle down so that the muzzle was aimed directly at my friend’s head. He said “Would you mind aiming that thing some other direction?” The young woman said “What’s the matter—you afraid of guns?” “No, ma’am, just bullets.”
Two major problems: What do you do about the 300,000,000 guns out there already. Number 2: What do we do about the mean, violent, aggressive people who are in possession of guns and have no respect for themselves or any human life. Any of the other arguments are political in nature and will solve nothing.
There was a comedian back in the 60’s or 70’s. Pat Paulson I believe was his name. He would tongue in cheek make a run for president. His platform included banning bullets.
People with guns kill people, so all people with guns should be killed by other people with guns. Then those people should be killed by the government with guns. Then the government with guns can kill whoever it wants to kill.
The 2nd amendment included the term a well regulated militia. Are any of the civilian groups even close to well regulated?
Would they work better if placed under the control and direction of the national guard command in their states?
But, then, most claim not to recognize the federal or most local governments. You know, the ones that uphold their right to say those kinds of things without being arrested and imprisoned on the spot.
An office mate died suddenly. He was divorced and hadn’t seen his kids (now adults) for many years. When they came to settle his affairs (no will, no other relatives), they discovered that he had several hundred guns and so much ammunition stockpiled that they called in the authorities because they were afraid it might blow up. He had more ammo in his basement than he could have shot if he had lived another 50 years and spent all his time shooting.
Isn’t it people’s minds and hearts that drive good and evil?Ps 7:9 End the evil of those who are wicked, and defend the righteous. For you look deep within the mind and heart, O righteous God.
This is not hard:According to the gunphobes:If a man kills a person with a bomb = bomb violenceIf a man kills a person with a car = car violenceIf a man kills a person with a hammer = hammer violenceBut no one speaks that way. I wonder why? (The question is rhetorical…)
The Heller decision says that people have the right to own guns in their own homes. Scalia even alluded that regulations on carrying guns could be regulated.
There was actually an effort by a lawyer in Florida to make bullets a controlled substance because they can cause great harm when injected into the human body. Unfortunately, it failed.
Amazing, liberals will never ever try to do anything about the reasons people want to shoot people, just the tools they use. Because they know they can’t do anything about the reasons, so just ban everything anybody would ever use.
bullets don’t have the capacity to travel fast on their own. they require the help of a person pulling the trigger of the gun whose chamber they are in.
There are subtle changes in language usage for harm / death as a result of using a gun. When the political climate offers a chance of additional gun regulation, such deaths are reported as “gun violence” – no mention of the shooter, the instrument is somehow responsible; when there is little chance of additional regulation, they are reported as “shootings” – the person is held responsible, not the instrument.
No, Guns really do kill people. They go off accidentally in many ways and kill people. I’ve heard of guns in purses going off, guns in cars, luggage and animals stepping on them going off.
Riiiight, bullets going real fast are one of those hazards of nature, totally unconnected to a gun whose trigger was pulled and to the human that pulled that trigger. You lunatics on the left can really come up with some reaching on your insanity.
Several years ago, I was working at a Lowes in Alabama where customers were allowed to walk in with pistols on their hip in plain sight. I quit, life is to short to risk making an angry nut job angry.
The real culprits are the liberal politicians and other clowns who defund police, prisons and prosecutors. The people who make it easy for violent criminals to escape justice and roam the streets like wild animals.
I have yet to see a bullet get up off the ground itself and then propel itself at someone. Just like I have yet to see a gun get up off the ground and fire that bullet. I’m fairly certain a person pulled a trigger. Just like when someone uses a pipebomb or a knife, we have to address the real issue. Until we do, any tool can be used to harm others, even tools like hammers.
Even in a poor country like the Philippines they have a voters ID. It has your picture and fingerprint. If you change your address you have to report to the Commission on Elections office in the city you moved to and get your ID updated. That office will contact your old office with your information. Then they will remove you from the rolls of your old city/village. You will not be able to vote until you check in with the new office. I know this because my Wife worked for the Commission of Elections for over 15 years.
