Who is Richard XV?

Richard the 49th. I don’t have the patience right now to figure out the Roman numeral.

Even lots of Italians don’t know where Italy is.

The father of Richard the 50th was Howard the 17th. Sheesh, even I knew that.

“Where’s my pocket computer?” Hmm, in 1974 I suppose that would mean a calculator.

There it is! “Pocket computer!” She means calculator, which we were not allowed to use in school because “you won’t always have access to a calculator, you know!” In my high school using a calculator was treated as tantamount to counting on your fingers. Till the day she died, when my mother said “computer” she meant “pocket calculator.”

“Where’s my pocket computer?” asked back in 1974? That’s remarkably prescient.

I like Sally’s black-and-white saddle shoes. I had a pair of those in junior high school.

If Charles chooses to be called King Charles he will be Charles III but the present Charles could pick from any of his four given names.

Back in 1600s Charles I, was son of James I, and his son was Charles II, so the present Charles would be finally claiming the name as king after 500 years.

Also his son William, if he so chooses, he would be William V (William VI was king before Queen Victoria)

The actual father of Richard the fiftieth was Richard the 3rd who had 50 children.

For a little girl, Sally sure gripes a lot. Imagine when she’s all grown up :(

Love that face in the first panel. If Peanuts ever got a spin-off, I’d want it to be about Sally facing the nightmares of school, from grade school to university.

Poor Charlie Brown, having to deal with both Sally and Lucy, he doesn’t know whether he’s coming or going.

Sally’s sceptical thoughts got rubbed on to Charlie.

Pocket computer certainly defines that this is not following original time period setting.
