Reminds of when Charlie Brown used to write letters using an old-fashioned metal pen that had to be dipped in an ink well, and he always made a mess. Shultz would splotch it all over the panels as though Charlie Brown was writing and having a hard time with his pen.
My grade school in the ‘50s was stuck in the pre-WWII era. We learned to write with dip pens and inkwells. We weren’t allowed to use ballpoint pens till 5th grade. I never got used to ballpoints. You have to hold them completely differently and they slip around on the paper. I’ve always used a fountain pen because it’s the only way I can write legibly.

Maybe branching out into pen manufacturing wasn’t such a good idea.

We owned an ink cartridge refill service. One of the girls was refilling a large cyan cartridge when the syringe plunger came out. She got Smurfed!
Looks like one of those fountain pens with a pump lever

Wow! So much ink! Is it a fountain pen?

I have heard that people who try to refill the cartridge for the ink jet printer get the same results.

I still have the fountain pen I received as a high school (1970) graduation gift. And I still use it.
