Better or worse than a kiddie pool or a sandbox?
It’s a short walk.
The creativity is insane tho
pretty strong plank when afloat to hold Calvin’s weight
Calvin’s going to make a great Captain Jack Sparrow one day.
We had an old garage door to float around on.
He should draw a hopscotch pattern on the plank to make walking the plank more entertaining.
Freshwater pirates.
Just go with it, Hobbes. It’s all a frigate of his imagination.
If Hobbes’ tail is in the water(panel 4), won’t he wick and get all soggy?
well drawn cartoon if you ask me.
Don’t rock the boat, Hobbes…
Hobbs ruined the illusion. Oh, frig it!
I don’t believe it. I was sure I had read all of these when they came out in the paper when I was a kid, but I do not remember this one.
That’s Hobbes…bringing Calvin back to reality again…
Hobbes has scurvy?
Watterson be in cahoots with that scallywag Schultz! See today’s “Peanuts Begins.”
You’re breaking character, Hobbes…
Take a long walk on a short plank, buddy.
Don’t be so fast to keel haul the only crew you have there Capt’n Thoughtless.
Never get sassy with a pirate captain.
With a good imagination, there are no limits.
Careful Cap’n Calvin! Hobbes might break yer puny body! ;o}
“Oh, well, in that case…”
my brother and I had a plank that was an airplane. we did have ancient headphones that helped the imagination.
You’re off by 2 weeks. “Talk Like a Pirate Day” is September 18th
Someone ought to tell Calvin that pirates didn’t attack frigates, which were warships. They attacked Spanish galleons which held the loot from the New World.
We as kids would make wooden rafts with scrap wood and nails, among other risky behaviors. Not all of us lived to adulthood.
Well, frigate.
The ship is a plank, how convenient.
Oh, the all-consuming imagination of kids at play.
I say find a wading pool (or bath tub) and keel haul him!
The pirates are kinda cute. I wonder where this six year old got the slangs.
Is this the pirate game that Charlie brown (from today’s Peanuts Begins ) is about to join?
