When I was younger I would see people build a tent using the back of a hatchet to pound the stakes in. I used to see people from another generation carry a hatchet in the back of their vehicles along with rope, spare tire (when it used to be a real spare tire), oil and tools for emergencies as there were no cellular phones back then.
