Did you ever get some meme that came thru your e-mail, and you had to pass it on, but before you did, you had to “improve” it just a little bit? What makes anybody think all those old-timey scribes were any more resistant to that kind of temptation?
What would really be funny would be if God literally wrote the Bible and it began with the scientific description of the creation of the universe (Big Bang explanation IF that’s the case) in purely technical terms, which of course no one at the time understood, and maybe even we today don’t understand, but the scribes copied it perfectly. Or could they?
God would not be writing in any human language (too limiting). So-o-o-o what God would have written IS the universe itself. [And the scribes didn’t, CAN’T, copy it, but continue to TRY to describe the universe in our limited languages.] That suggests the universe is the language of God.
It’s one thing to rewrite God (assuming you believe that He did actually write the Bible), but this would be misquoting Him — a more serious offense in any editorial endeavor.

Be careful if you try to edit that Book ; the Author might not take kindly to it.
