Spouse has decided not to play word games w/ me. It’s not fun unless you win at least SOME of the time. And her value of “some” is “more than half”, seems like.
Saying no winner or loser is bologna. That is just like the “self esteem” era. When parents claimed none of the kids playing sports “lost” because it might upset the losing team. So no keeping score, every kid gets to play and of course, everyone got a trophy. Thankfully that fad ended as kids hated it.
It is nice to at least see the lovable Muffin in todays cartoon , but as has been in the past there was no lovable Roscoe on the couch , I wonder what happened ?
I trounced my hubby at a Scrabble-off. I also won Grand prize and 1st place for highest scoring game- 476- and highest scoring word, @ 65. It was a memorable day.
When we were young, my cousin and I would often play Scrabble. Though I was the superior speller (and still I am), she usually won because she was so focused on winning.
I used to date a court reporter, we played Scrabble one time, then he wouldn’t play any more because I won. Also, he called me early one morning (I’m not a morning person) and asked me if I knew what “multicolinearity” meant. I said, “Multi means many, Co means together, Linearity has to do with lines, so it should be many lines together.” He wasn’t happy that, even half asleep, I knew this. Then he asked me to spell it, and I just rolled out the letters. He really wasn’t happy then.

I wish I could buy this ‘toon to have it put on a T-shirt. The Scrabble gang in my ’senior housing’ takes this ‘game’ very seriously…

If you want to play Scrabble by yourself, might I suggest “Bookworm” on the https://arcadespot.com/game/bookworm/ website.

Scrabble is a cool game as long as the players don’t make up words!

Mark Twain said it best. “Anyone who can only think of one way to spell a word obviously lacks imagination.”

This idea that EVERYTHING is a competition/win-lose situation gets real old real fast.

Try “Super Scrabble.” Bigger board, more tiles, quadruple wood scores.

There’s nothing wrong with winning or losing.
