That’s ambitious. I would have thought that the first and last paragraphs would be enough.

Just read the book jacket for the summary. Or you can google the book to get the summary. I do this to see if it seems like a story I even WANT to read.

Today’s Saturday morning. Although this reminds me of my school homework due dates, except that I don’t really have to worry about starting it until Sunday morning if it is due on Monday. And by George that speed reading is what I had found out years ago. If you read chapter 1 you get introduced to all the good characters names. And reading the last chapter contains the climax about how the bad guy dies and the denouement about why he dies. If you know that you can wing it on all the rest of the questions on the quiz and get most of them right to pass the grade.

As an English teacher this year, I cringe.

What is the purpose of a summer reading list? The experiences trying to get my grandson to read his books were not positive.

How the story starts and how it ends?

I had a teacher say if you were pressed for time, read the first and last sentence of each paragraph. It works pretty well.

Hope they didn’t get assigned À la recherche du temps perdu…

Wait till she runs for the town council!

Better start reading and stop talking about it. Oh, by the way, that technique doesn’t work. Suggestion. Read one book fully and hope that she only calls on you to discuss that book. One out of six aren’t great odds, but better than 0%…..

Anybody else remember reading Classic Comics for a book report in school?

If it’s a good book, that first chapter will get you hooked. If not… maybe it shouldn’t be on the list!

That’s still a lot of reading. 6 Books, dozens of chapters in each book. She probably meant read the first and last page of each book. More up her alley.

Summer reading lists are not valid. Neither the previous teacher or the new next teacher is authorized to make student assignments because the students are not yet or are no longer under their charge.

“Double-talk (a.k.a. B.S.)” While in High School, my class was assigned “The Devil’s Advocate” to read… I could not pay attention to it, so, I didn’t read it, and we had a test on the book, at the end… I scored a 95 on the test, and the teacher wrote a little note on the bottom…“Did you read the book?” Well, it seems, that was kind of a moot point. Grin

Is the Born Loser going to retire or will it pass on to a third artist?

To the comic strip fans of The Born Loser. I have a question to the author Chip Sansom, I’ve noticed he’s over 70 years old and has been writing this comic strip over the past 30 since his father Art Sansom passed away in 1991.

I noticed that Chip Sansom is married and has 2 daughters. I’m wondering, will Chip retire The Born Loser or will he pass it on to a third artist maybe one of his daughters?

Can you let me know what Chip Sansom plans on doing with The Born Loser once he does decide to retire or passes on. Also while Chip is still working on his comic strips, in the future, I want to ask Chip Sansom to remove the Title word “Loser” with “Joker” as I find the word “Loser” an offensive negative title that makes me feel bad.
