ten bucks! what a rip off?

Actually for 5 people $2 per person sounds about right. Ten years I was buying my god-daughter ice cream snacks, six of her friends showed up when the truck came by, so I couldn’t disappoint any of the kids, cost me $15 bucks but it was worth it.

Hose ‘em down.

wgdm. I’m hearing you. Remember when it would have cose about a dollar for the whole thing?

I didn’t know there was such a thing as a bicycle ice cream “truck”. Is this only in Canada?

Don’t forget this is in Canadian dollars.

some of the people around here have the “truck,” but no bicycle attachment. These folks have really good calves though. :-)

Canadian dollars are only about 9 or 10 cents less than an American dollar right now.

I say, looking at the kids, that it is time for a swim.

I remember ice cream costing about that close to 20 years ago, if you were buying from the Dickie’Dee fellas. Also, you do tend to find the bicycle ice cream carts in a lot of the parks here in Canada, eh! Can ya tell, “I AM CANADIAN!” LOL! Only find the ice cream trucks in some of the bigger cities here driving around the sub-divisions.

Lynn has posted at her FBORFW site, that the strip now takes place “in modern times”. I take that to mean it’s no longer set in the late 70’s or early 80’s like the first time around.

Oh, and that wasn’t NED in the sandbox. I asked and Lynn answered : ) that it wasn’t. I guess NED turned up when Mike and Weed were in college.

I’ve never met a mother these days that doesn’t carry around “wipes” of some sort, just for this very thing. But then today’s laugh wouldn’t be a laugh!

Lynn has said repeatedly that these stories are set in the present time. Therefore, $10 for 5 ice cream treats is actually pretty cheap.

I haven’t seen an ice cream truck or bike or anything like that yet here in Canada but if I did I’d expect it to cost at least $2.50 for some kind of ice cream treat. Things are definitely more expensive here, even considering the exchange rate. Gas is nearly 1.00 a liter which my husband tells me would nearly equal 4.00 a gallon.

That will be very funny to see all of three kids have sticky things on their hands after they eat ice creams. LOLs!

There is still an icecream truck that drives around with musci all the time. I feel sorry for the driver. For paying the middleman the prices are high.

Back in the late sixtys I pushed an ice cream cart in Flint, MI. Hard work, but ok money for a teen at that time. Difficult to remember but it seems to me a base, no frills popsicle was around 15-20 cents.

Oh, definitely emphasize the word “sticky.”

How low price can you go? Back in the 50’s, a double popsicle (the kind with two parts you could break apart and share) was just 5 cents. I could also get a small, one scoop ice cream cone for a nickle. I would check out the couch cushions every week for lost change to feed my habit.

I use to RIDE a Dickie Dee Ice Cream Bike :D I have calves of steel even now!

The cheapest prices was the “Rocket Pop” at $1.25/each Most expensive was Hagan Daz at $5 each. This was 10 years ago.
