Were I Shroeder, I’d take that piano and BONK Lucy over the skull with it (it would be destroyed of course but I hear that Shroeder has quite a collection of pianos in his closet).;D
That first panel could be the greatest single panel in Peanuts history. Charlie Brown, lowering Schroeder down a rope into the sewer. They’re both so nonchalant about it. “oh, hey…we do this every day” Absolutely classic.
What will Lucy do if he takes up banjos & bagpipes. Eddy Peabody was one of the best Plectrum banjo players & met him back stage when he was part of a variety show in Kansas City MO in 1969. When I told Eddy I played tenor & 5 string banjos Eddy put his custom Vega Vox Plectrum banjo in my lap and said: ‘pick a tune’. Had only played a 5-string & tenor banjo, never a plectrum. Eddy told me: ‘no matter what kind of banjo you play have fun, & the audience will have fun with you!’ 27 years later in Far NW Tucson village of Catalina I put down my flute & bought a set of bagpipes. A group of pipers in Tucson helped me set up my pipes & asked me if I knew Eddy Peabody. Seems Eddy passed away in 1970, & his wife gave his pipes to this bagpipe organization.
2010 I bought a Bacon plectrum & managed ‘Michael Row Your Boat’ back up with piano in a church service:
Later sold the plectrum because I started using plectrum chords when playing tenor. playing 5-string & tenor is easy since they are played differently:

Not a bad idea to play it down there since he’ll have privacy from Lucy.

Doesn’t Schroeder have a closet full of toy pianos for just such occasions?

Those kids are pretty strong. Manhole covers are super heavy but Schroeder has the adrenaline pumping.

The Peanuts Meet the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
No one asked for it, but I’m not against it either.

This must have been the point where Schroeder decided to keep a stash of keyboards in the closet.

Schroeder and his beloved have been reunited at last. What he and the piano have is beautiful and Lucy can’t destroy it.

The sweet sound of success is rarely music to Charlie Brown’s ears.

Maybe they should throw Lucy down there.

Must be a well put together piano to survive that fall. You’d think a couple of broken legs, popped off keys, and a corner smashed in at least!

At least Schroeder didn’t holler Rats! I hope he doesn’t end up with hepatitis either.

The notes coming out of the sewer are cryptic. Schroeder is still to find his piano.
