I used electrical tape to fix a leaky sink trap, adding more when it started to leak again. Eventually I called a plumber. When he saw all that tape, he exclaimed, “WHO did THIS?!?”
Ah, yes – duct tape: One of modern man’s 3 greatest inventions (the others being, of course, WD-40 and the frayed denim miniskirt).
Back in my roadie days, I believed a stage should 1) safe, 2) reliable, and 3) invisible; after teardown I’d have a basketball-sized lump, such that one of my crewmates oft times called me “Capt. Ducttape” (when he wasn’t calling me “Yukon Pete” for my tendency to do load-ins & load-outs in a T-shirt. In Chicago. In February.)

He should wrap the whole pole in duct tape (or at least add enough to “straighten out” where the tape ends).
It would also be nice to do the same to the other lamp in the room – so they match.

My drainpipe under the kitchen sink sprung a small leak. I put a bandaid and silicone caulk on it. Lasted about 5 years!

I noticed a “temporary” tape repair I did 20+ years ago. It is still holding so I guess it is permanent.

It’s a temporary repair, in that it’s a repair until it no longer works.

I tell my wife if I said I’ll fix it – you don’t have to keep reminding me every 6 months.
