When I was a kid, Capt Marvel was one of the serials that ran along with one or two B-grade movies [mostly westerns] and a cartoon every Saturday afternoon. Great memories!
Captain Marvel was a comic book in the 40’s and 50’s printed by Faucett comics. DC, the home of Superman, sued them for copyright. They wound up settling out of court. Fawcett eventually went out of business, and DC later bought all rights to the character. Attempts at revival of the character have be so-so. The recent movie, while entertaining, didn’t capture the flavor of the original. See Wikipedia for more details.
