Was Elvis a ship’s cat in a previous life? He seems a liiiiittle too familiar with sea sounds. A wood-clad ship, of course. Anything newer wouldn’t be dignified.
Reminds me: I have both rheumatoid and osteo- arthritis. I also play the bodhran (Irish frame drum). Sometimes my popping and cracking wrist sets up a counter beat to what I am playing.
Love that Goldie and Lupin are maintaining a truce in honor of a higher priority – healing the Woman! Look how close they are, and how quiet they’re being. What good kitties.
Last night my mom’s cat Jojo decided to slip out the door and explore the Great Outdoors. After about three hours she came back rather upset, while my mom’s other cat Pepper gave Jojo lots of hugs and grooming. I guess all’s well that ends well, but why did she need to leave? She’s been spayed, so there’s no question of searching for a mate. Cats!
I’m guessing the Woman is watching the National Geographic or the Nature Channels as a break from the British mysteries. Thank Cat it’s not Shark Week. Lupin and Shark Week makes me shudder.
Hmmm, guess that fits. About the same age as my baby sister when she had her daughter I suspect and the girl does seem about the same age my niece was when her mom turned forty.
time for the woman to get her knees checked out. It may be worse than anyone thinks. I have a friend whose knees started hurting her pretty bad when she was pregnant with her last child. Turns out most of the cartiladge is gone from her knee joints and they are rubbing bone on bone.

What a wonderful soliloquy from Elvis….The Woman is his mommy and he feels her pain.

Who knew Elvis had such poetry in his soul. Personally I adore the maritime metaphors; it’s been a long time since I was shipboard.

In a completely unrelated report and keeping with our nautical theme, Elvis insists the Man provide tuna for dinner.

Elvis: The Siren and the Sailor
The Siren and the Sailor, two ships passing in the night
Bringing pain and sorrow, a cargo within sight
Inspiring our Elvis, with his clever metaphor,
The Siren and the Sailor, calling pain to wash ashore.
…….
The Siren and the Sailor, wishing they would go their way
The pain that they bring with them takes awhile to go away
Now bringing cats and cookies, we all know that we will win,
With a lot of love and rest, and acetaminophen!

The long and winding ode
To knees old & sore
Is what we need to hear
Leaves us hoping for more
Elvis is such a dear
He loves her for shore
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

He’s Elvis the Sailor Cat
Puck wishes he’d finish
’cause his joy is diminished

Oh, to have the knees of robber mice, at least they seem sturdy
If Elvis’ words feel right you can sail away and find tranquility
Oh, metaphors do miracles, just you wait and see
Believe me
It’s not fun when pain doesn’t end, no reason to pretend
And if your knees feel right you can find the joy of innocence again
Oh, poetry can do miracles, just you wait and see
Believe me
Elvis, take me away to where I’ve always heard it could be
Just a dream and my knees to carry me
And soon I will be free
- Carter Burwell – Sailing – Christopher Cross
