Thus I pray there will be many a sermon this Sunday that opens with John 14:27 – “I [Jesus] give you peace, the kind of peace that only I can give. It isn’t like the peace that this world can give. So don’t be worried or afraid.”
Us older folk can make life choices affecting things (voting, practicing measures to prevent spread of Covid), be careful on use of non-renewable energy to help. But it will be up to the Franklins of the world to fix many of the problems of today, they’re not short-term.
That’s just the man made stuff. There’s also the overdue Yellowstone super volcano eruption, solar flares to knock out satellites, black hole jets pointed at the Earth, and of course asteroid impacts to name a few.
"R"s are especially hard; most little kids just learning to read see “bran” for “barn.” (Fun with linguistics!) I read books 8 hours a day, and then watch some TV, but I’m deaf so I’m still reading . . . with closed captions on the screen.

Living for the moment is not the obvious choice. That’s what caused the problems in the first place.

It would be smarter to peruse trade schools. Also cheaper and provides a better and quicker return on your money than most degrees.

Living for the moment is not the same as living in the moment. The latter is healthy; the former, not so much.

The only consolation about the increasingly likely extermination of life on Earth is that I will certainly be dead before it happens.

Living just for the moment is pretty much what got us into all those problems in the first place.
