The first job is to get elected. After that, the ONLY important job is to be *re*elected. To which end, one must raise funds, and occasionally have a staff member do something for a constituent. Legislative work is optional, though again, you need to look as if you’re doing something.

Due to the restrictions related to the pandemic, the legislator has had to rearrange his schedule. The 4:48 to 5pm has been slotted for a QAnon rally. That will last about 12 minutes, which also about equals his IQ.

“What’s important about morality in politics is us. We own the chicken farm. We must give our bird-brained, feather-headed politicians morals. Politicians love to think of themselves as “free-range” but they do not have the capacity to hunt or gather morals in the wild. If we fail to supply them with morality, politicians begin to act very scary in the barnyard. These are enormous headless chickens and they have nukes.”

Wiley you forgot, ignore Jan 6th subpoena. I wonder if I ran for Congress would I get elected on an Accountability platform: A) Term Limit to once per lifetime, B) No salary raises, ever, & C) Salaries reduced to the Federal minimum wage for all Legislators regardless of time in office. Of course I am not qualified to run for office as a college dropout, but wouldn’t it be nice to see these bills pass on the floor of the House or Senate? It’d be a long term goal to get a majority of like minded people elected to the Legislature to approve these bills. But I suspect it would be shot down by the fat cats on Wall Street because that would upset the biggest apple cart in WDC.

“Is it better to be good or appear to be good?” was an old philosophical question. Moralists tended to say ‘be good’. Machiavelli disagreed, “As long as you appear good people will be happy…” Heck if you can keep a handful of entrenched people, who can restrict the right of others to vote, fooled you don’t even have to appear good.

Congressman’s number one priority – get reelected.

Number two priority – please the major donors (see priority one)

Number three priority – for Democrats – please the party leadership. for Republicans debase one’s self to gain the favor of cult leader Trump.

Fourth priority – demonize all political enemies.

Fifth priority – if there is time left over and if it is convenient – represent the constituents.

The crop of rebranded Turd Reich Trolls extoll the virtues of the Mango Madman over the current administration.

One has managed to help kill well over 700,000 American. It has spurred attacks on the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence. It has fomented a failed coup and given rise to a cult of traitors. It has encouraged hate, fear mongering, racism, sexism, misogyny, xenophoblia, and political infighting and paranoia. It has lied to and grifted from its supporters with bogus campaigns for recounts and elections with those funds barely ever reaching their intended goals but instead much more often lining the pockets of the Turd Reich leaders, funding luxury travel and lavish dinners. Did any money the Velvet ya Voldemort collected for recounted reach Arizona? And doesn’t he in fact still owe Arizona money for his rallies?

It has lied to the nation about voter fraud and stolen elections, resulting more often in discovering the votes that were questioned actually turned into more pro zen and secure votes for the new administration, and most cases of fraud being from members of or voters for the Turd Reich. Of course the actual intention of those distractions was and is to instill a sense of doubt in the electoral process. This is textbook propaganda and disinformation from the days of Hitler and Goebbels. The Big Lie is one method that led the Nazis to power. aGolf Twitler has kissed the butt of every dictator he has ever met, especially those who are enemies of the United States of America. He wants to become one of them.

So no, the current administration has not accomplished as much as the Turd Reich. The new administration is hampered by morals, compassion, and respect for the Constitution. The Turd Reich trolls will change all that if they can.

Anyone here think that is the way things should be in America? Or should we stomp the new Nazis like we have stomped the old Nazis?

On the other side of the argument, I’m not talking parties, is that many of our Congress people do a heck of a good job working for the people who voted them in. I’ve heard so many good stories about the things that are done for constituents including fighting the bureaucrats who have stalled or otherwide frustrated them. One of my senators went to bat for a SIL who was trapped in another country. He didn’t ask what our party was, or our political/financial clout was. He and his staff just helped.

Yes, it is true that the US is in a constant state of electioneering and fund raising, even other democratic countries are laughing about it behind our backs.

Just look at Canada: a thirty day election and it’s done. No sooner than the date was announced, that it was finished and they are back in the governing mode.

Then going on to supporting a bill for government (tax payer) funded (socialism not mentioned) military bases maintaining the US empire world wide, see for example https://responsiblestatecraft.org/2021/08/24/the-all-american-base-world-750-us-military-bases-remain-around-the-planet/
