Dang, Robb. I was hoping you’d flip the script on Sharkdad. Such a great character and now just when it looked like his run was over, we know we’ll get to see him in future stories. Thank you for making me smile this morning!
I’d hate to be a part of this so called family. Your dad is dying……let’s go pick pumpkins! Really?!? I’d want to be at his bedside or if not allowed, then at least in the hospital. Where is the compassion and sensitivity? Surely a decent writer could have found a way to work in the metaphor in a hospital setting. You just lost a follower Robb.
OK, this one has confused me. Sharcane was dying and then suddenly he’s not and Kenny found a good pumpkin even though they were all dead…? How are they connected? Is Kenny supposed to have done it somehow?
OK, this strip today is just horrible. It appears the kid’s “shark dad” is literally DYING, and the clown selling pumpkins is comparing damaged produce to the impending death of a beloved human being! Bear in mind, people who read Jump Start in the Boston Globe ONLY see Sunday strips, so we have no idea who Shark Dad is, or who the blond kid is, or who the farmer is, and it reads as totally insensitive!

I like the parallel between the unexpected surviving pumpkin and the unexpectedly revived Shark Dad.

So… Kenny’s faith in his dad being OK revived him?

The end of today’s strip appears to be a Non Sequitur… Oh, wait… That’s a different strip.

Liked how Kenny mixed up “rites” and “rights”…

I don’t quite understand why they take him to a pumpkin patch well his bio dad is dying.

What’s with the, “You think it’s bad you’re dad is dying, what about my ruined pumpkin patch!”? They should have punched him.

Sweet story today. My guess is, Kenny can’t go in the hospital to see his dad because of virus restrictions or maybe his age.

It seems like panels 6-9 mean something, but I haven’t a clue what they are trying to say. Anyone?

some people for some reason are able to defy the odds. that is why they are called miracles.

Shark dad must have been very close to death to get admitted to a hospital these days, seeing as they are all full up with the unvaccinated.
Dragoncat about 3 years ago
It’s a miracle! The Spirit of Halloween doesn’t always have to be depicted as evil.
