Three sisters have sold their cherry orchard to their dear uncle Vanya but are now trying to rescue a fallen seagull. These things they will check off their list for today. They’ve just been rushin’ around for hours. They just wish they could get a marriage proposal. Ah, well.
And so the princess returned the grateful frog – no longer a prince – to the Lillypad where she had found him. “He was rather a disappointment,“ she told her friends. “ Not everyone is up to the responsibilities of the ‘Princing’ business. He’ll be happier here. And the flies are far more abundant.“
Ginny reached out to pluck a white lily, / though the water was stagnant and chilly. / The adornment was apt / for the thing which was wrapped / in the blanket— their late Uncle Willie. /// He had talked about changing his will, / and so, this was the right time to kill / the old miserly bore. / Now they’d row far from shore, / dump the corpse, and then move to Brazil.
After a crazy Bachelorette party of drinking while rowing the night before, the Bridemaides worked quickly to round up their corsages they lost in the water.
So pretty and shapely and slim/ yet poor Lilly was dreadfully dim/ she almost “had it all”/ but after the fall/ they recalled that she just couldn’t swim..
I have added a comment there (awaiting Mr. Melcher’s approval) pointing to the artist info I used to point to here. First work by this artist used here (2 times, including this repeat).
Three big fans of the great Edward Lear / rowed about on the Thames every year. / They had nicknames which fit / with Lear’s poetic wit, / and they paid him a tribute, sincere. /// Min, “The Owl,” had a mind sharp and keen. / Kit, “The Pussy-cat,” never was mean. / They took along honey, / and plenty of money, / and the beauty, Miss Bote, (who pees green).

Why is it always that the less popular girl has to do all the rowing, while the other two loll around, dragging their hands through the water?

Eleanor thought giving Lilly a lily was the best way to let her know she wanted her to be her special friend.

Women of the neighborhood pranking Monet by putting paper mache waterlilies in his pond at night. The rest is art history.
