Is a screenwriter like a skywriter, but with a different medium? Either way, I suspect that this guy’s not going to get many buyers: Politicians are already expert in that field.

no need to reimagine history. just need to discard the statistics that doesn’t fit into your agenda.

I can’t understand why Disney can reimagine history in their recent live-action Lady & The Tramp, but Song of the South is still forbidden.

Anybody interested in an in-depth analysis of which media sources are biased in which directions and which ways can find it here, from a service that specializes in such research: https://adfontesmedia.com

“All Sides” largely agrees with the overall positioning of the above but doesn’t provide as much granularity: https://www.allsides.com/media-bias/media-bias-chart

And, just like the major fast food chains, there’s an outlet in every state house, most local council chambers, and lots of voter recruitment offices.

Speaking as an outsider – not an American – I find it interesting that these debates take place on a comic page. Wiley is pretty even-handed in making fun of all sides, but it is also clear where his criticisms are directed. Yet, people show up here to claim his words to prove their own point of view; which (1) proves the point in this comic and that (2) everyone has become their own screenwriter for reality.

Historical movies have pretty well all been revisionist. The Patriot, for example, switched the personalities of Benjamin Martin and Col. Tavington. You can’t very well have a brutal and murderous protagonist. Then there was U-571, which attributed the British capture of the Enigma machine to an American crew. I’m sure the Texas Taliban are just itching to put their own stamp on some new material.

To those who claim that Fox News is better than other news sources because it out polls them:

Over the past few decades rap albums featuring obscene and sexist lyrics outsold recordings of Ludwig Von Beethoven’s music. Are you going to tell us that it proves that obscene rappers are better musicians than Beethoven? Would you prefer that your kids listen to garbage-mouthed rappers crowing about their booty-lishous babes over Beethoven (or Brahms, or Mozart, or Chopin, or other immortal composers)?

You really have to be willfully blind to interpret a violent attack on the Capitol, complete with video tapes, as an attempt to wash the windows from the inside or to hold a job seminar.

We tried to find someone to write a history with Trump as a kind, knowledgeable, compassionate, loyal, person who only wanted the best for the society he was honored to serve. We couldn’t get them to stop laughing long enough to start writing. There was one guy who tried, but his computer crashed after one paragraph.

They need some good screenwriters if they want people to go to the theaters. But history reimagined won’t do well because it will have a sad ending, anyway you slice it

A lot of people simply vote for a party without doing any thinking on their own. Much simpler. Seems the Republicans can’t win without cheating. The Democrats need to become as bad in order to win. Does that make them any better ? Sadly, for us, Democrats and the country, I think we are screwed in 2024. The pendulum swings both ways and we just have to ride it out.

It’s nothing new. The story about the Pilgrims at Plymouth sharing a Thanksgiving feast with local natives, which was taught as historical fact in schools for many decades (and may still be), came from a novel.
