Such an odd attempt at a flex. A trivia guy like Arlo should know men have better upper body strength than women, while women have relatively better lower body strength. Why tease someone modifying an exercise so she can improve? She can also probably touch her toes easier than Arlo, and has better endurance for walking than him, but that’s just body type and interests.
Since the conversation here is about fitness, if anyone wants to see where exercise has moved beyond calisthenics to fluid and full body movements, GMB Fitness has some fun programs for all ages. And ZHealth is great for rehab, especially balance and brain/body connection. Vision plays a huge role in fitness as well. An eye doctor with FCOVD in their title can help make sure the eyes are working well as a team and with the rest of the systems.
Makes sense. She tried “men pushups”, found she didn’t have the upper body strength, switched to “girl pushups”. Those are the facts… Then he tried to be a wise butt and she shut him down. Funny. That was the point. All you liberal cry babies, whine somewhere else.
In school we had to do standardized exercises, maybe for measuring and reporting performance. Boys had to do multiple full chin-ups, but the girls just had to raise and hold for a certain number of seconds. I always wondered why they made that distinction.
That is not a proper girlie pushup. Not even close. She might as well stand up and start against the wall, back some, so she can lean forward and push herself back. Then learn a proper girlie push up before doing a regular one. Then put her feet on the sofa with all her weight downward on her arms and shoulders and do a regular one. Or a hundred. Whatever she can work up to and is comfortable with. Her position is one that would lean to crawling, not push ups.
So Jimmy actually figured he needed to substitute a different part of her anatomy in that phrase? Political correctness is getting… or rather HAS gotten… out of control.
No such thing. Real pushups is even harder putting your hands together and aiming your nose for the center of them is good and harder. No boucning either without up and down full extension.
The fourth panel seems to have a bad copy and paste of Arlo. His legs disappear and his eyes are not looking at Janice. By the way, why call those push-up ‘girl push-up’ and ‘men push-up’? Shouldn’t it be ‘boy push-up’?
Not trying to put Arlo down, but I was trying to think of what he is shown as doing for fun and exercise? Is his boat a sailboat? He does do a lot of physical work around the house.

Is she imagining him, or did Jimmy run out of ink?

Really wish we’d retire “like a girl” and similar phrases as being put downs.

Just do a plank, Janice.

Does the benefit a woman gets from push ups proportional to cup size?

So Arlo, how many man pushups do you think you can do?

The point was missed in the above comments…… In the fourth panel, Arlos legs fade away below his knees.

Then 2 minute “Planks”
Vangoghdog01 about 3 years ago
Arlo, we assume you can do 1 arm push-ups with either arm (Extra credit if you clap between strokes and do more than 50).

Janis realized, at the last second, that her comment would have turned into an invitation!

How old IS Janis, anyway?
