I generally (all three times) hold it together with a toothpick or paperclip until I can get to the optician to get it replaced. Though in each of the three times in my experience, they go missing Friday, after 5:30 pm. Well, except the one that happened while we were travelling away from home. On Friday. After stores had closed.
As I also wear eyeglasses, it ain’t easy to hold a dinky, little screw that come in an eyeglasses repair kit and carefully set it near the ear rests’ screw holes.
After more than fifty years of wearing glasses, I’ve had to fix the temple piece more than a few times. Aside from the usual eyeglasses kit, I also keep a roll of fine wire nearby. And I keep all of my old glasses so I have a backup pair. Even an old pair is better than none.
I’ve had eyeglasses with those little screws loose, and it takes such a tiny little screwdriver to tighten it up! I used to hold the glasses in my hand to do that adjustment, but never more, after slipping with that tiny screwdriver and it’s so slender, and sharp, it dove straight into my finger. OUCH! :’-(
Now I lay it down on a padded hard surface so as not to scar the wood like I punctured my finger. :-(
I have 400/20 vision. I live in Maryland. I grew up in Pennsylvania. In 1967 the girl I grew up with was going to nursing school at a local hospital. She came to my my sisters birthday party. She asked why I didn’t wear contacts. I said if I dropped on the floor, I would have a hard time finding them.
It is very important to routinely tighten eyeglass screws. If there is no resistance to moving the earpieces, it’s too loose and will eventually fall out. This applies to even the most expensive frames which may have custom-size screws very difficult to replace. Also applies to sunglasses.

“Big ugly thing on your glasses” as opposed to the big ugly (on the inside) thing asking you the question?

My pair of glasses has captured screws. They come loose but don’t fall out.

A very small safety pin works better.

How’d he get the rubber band through the tiny hole?
DawnQuinn1 about 3 years ago
Use a magnetic screwdriver to hold the screw as you set it in the spot to screw into the arm of the glasses. Even a girl knows that. lol

Over the years I’ve had screws come loose on my wire-rim glasses. The plastic frame glasses never seem to be a problem. I think I’ll stick with those.

If Opal has pierced ears, he could borrow one of the studs and use that to hold his glasses together.

Typical Brian Crane. Yesterday Earl insults Opal and she pours the pudding over his head. Today she insults him and he just sits there.
